Helly-Hansen33874 Men's Crew Hooded Midlayer Jacket

I know this is marketed as a sailing crew jacket but it is also so much more. I just took it on a trip to Iceland in March where the temps were usually in the low to mid 30's. This jacket was perfect and I couldn't be happier with it. It's warm and extremely waterproof, I darn near stood directly under waterfalls and not a drop made it through this jacket. I'm 6 foot 200lbs and have this jacket in two sizes. I have a large that fits and looks great with just a lightweight shirt underneath. I have an XL for those colder days where I want to throw an extra layer on underneath.

A little tight in the armpit. Buy one size larger than you normally wear. Pretty warm for what it is, vents well too.

I would love to give this 5-stars, because this is a very good looking coat. But the reason I cannot is based on a couple issues. First of all, I usually wear coats, shirts, and pullovers in the large to extra large sizes. Being 5'9" , 210 lbs. with a muscular build does have its challenges. I ordered the XL based on previous reviews. I am glad I did. As others have stated, the sleeves and armpits are snug. The body of the coat was a tad snug as well (belly) , but not uncomfortable. There's no way I'll be able to layer with this coat though. A sweatshirt isn't fitting under this coat for me. I test drove this coat (wearing only a thin shirt underneath) on my usual 4-mile walk right out of the packaging. It was about 35 degrees and sunny here in the Mid-Atlantic. The coat was comfortable for sure. It kept me warm enough. It stopped whatever breeze there may have been. But here's one of the detractions, it trapped moisture more than I thought it was designed for. I arrived home with a wet shirt and moisture droplets trapped in the clear ID tag on the back of the nape. The entire inside of the coat was damp, and my phone in the chest pocket was dripping wet. It trapped more moisture than this is supposedly designed to do. So, 4-stars from me because it's a good looking coat...And you better order a size up for sure. I'll give it another go today and update the review if need be. Using this as a casual coat without an energetic walk may be more appropriate, because it is attractive.

Great winter coat

I like this jacket a lot but I was expecting it to be warm. I am 5'11 and an avg. athletic build 194LBs. This is my third jacket buying from Amazon and the first two (different brands) were size Large but did not fit or look size Large. I bought XL this time, and now it's big on my sleeves and the waist. The waist does not bother me but the long sleeves do have velcro so I can adjust the length. The jacket is like a shell and you def. need to layer up.

If you are between sizes take the larger size. This will allow you to zip up the collar and and additional layers under.

This jacket fits a little tight so go a size up. If you want it to shape your body, go with your size. I personally look hot in this jacket.

Ich habe diese Jacke für Situationen bestellt, wenn beim Segeln mal ein kurzer Schauer runtergeht, ich aber keine Lust habe, mühevoll meinen schweren Offshore-Anzug anzuziehen. Dafür ist die Jacke perfekt und obwohl sie so leicht ist, hat man darin auch noch einen gewissen Kälteschutz, was ja selbst im Hochsommer auf der Ostsee wünschenswert ist. Alles in allem: prima Jacke - nicht nur für Segler.
