Boldly Going Forward!
I have had to wait sooo long for this model to become available, but now at long last Amazon UK have a few in stock at a very reasonable price!. This ship is already shooting up in price and you can pay upto £200 in some places already, so snap it up while you can. I have been buying these models from Amazon for a few years now and Enterprise B makes a fine addition in my cabinet. Now a lot of criticism has been levelled at this product citing poor 'dirty' finishing (weathering) and various lighting 'bleed through' issues. Mine is near on perfect with just slight weathering or dirty areas. I think maybe it depends on the person 'finishing' these models at the time of manufacture, as to how much attention they pay to the job itself. I would just say to Diamond Select..Forget the weathering effects in future on your models. If the buyer wants to weather his/her model let them do it themselves..the rest of us just want a nice clean well finished ship please. To those who have bought a sub standard quallity model..exchange it..Good one's are out there!

Although I agree with much of what other reviewers have said about this incarnation of Enterprise B I think it is still worth it if you need some Trek-tat for your geekcave. I generally think the paint job is adequate and at a glance the vessel looks good. The weathering to me is not a massive issue. The inaccurate lettering on the engineering hull (stating it is Excelsior not Enterprise) is a niggle, but it is REALLY SMALL. The reversal of the same lettering on one side is less forgivable, but hey...Not as good as the Enterprise E by the same company, not as impressive as the Klingon Bird of Prey, but I am happy for it to join the other incarnations I have of the Enterprise in my geek retreat.

Diamond Select, proudly going where no replica manufacturer has gone before!
I'm a big fan of the Diamond Select/Art Asylum Star Trek ships, already owning the Enterprise A, D and E from the same range. So it's no wonder that I jumped on the chance to get my mitts on their version of the Enterprise B, as seen in "Star Trek: Generations". It's a well-detailed, quality built model, with lights and sound clips taken from the film. The nacelle LED's are more visible than in other ships, pinpoints of light in a dimmer field, rather than just having the nacelles glow, but that's a minor point compared to the good detail that's gone into creating this model. Another definite plus is that they're using a more key/slot mounting point for the display stand, rather than the previous ball/socket joints which have proved troublesome in the past.I'd say a definite must for all Trek collectors!

Be careful with the stand, it looks like an adjustable ball joint so after placing the model on the stand I tried to adjust the positioning and immediately broke it resulting in the top part of the stand firmly lodged in the ship. Its NOT a ball joint! Had no choice but to superglue the whole model to the stand.

Nice
Very cool and my son loves it. Some have complained in the past of it being designated excelsior on the hull but that has been fixed on my model. It is not perfect as the lights are a bit bright, they bleed a bit and the decals are a little off in areas but overall much better than previous toys at the same price point. I am likely going to get another one.

Disappointed
I waited eagerly for this to be released since the Playmates version a few years ago was poor resemblance to the Excelsior-Refit Class Enterprise-B. Much to my disappointment, this wasn't much better. Diamond Select have done a great job getting the layout and dimensions of the Excelsior Class sorted however there is several issues with the ship:There is dirty marks / permanent marks all over the shipHalf of the blue colour is missing from the Secondary Hull underneath. The side 'banner' states USS Excelsior not USS Enterprise BThe detail to the neck could have been betterOverall, for it to be displayed on a shelf it looks good and easily trumps the looks of the Playmates version however for accuracy and expectations it was a bit of a let down.
