Description A beautiful variety of Hollyhock that bears Purple / Black flowers in June / July. Reaches a height of approx 5 feet. Cultivation Sow the seeds From Late winter to mid summer on the surface of a good quality moist (not waterlogged) seed compost. Seal inside a polythene bag / propagator and maintain a temp of 15 - 20 deg C Germination usually takes between 2 and 3 weeks. DO NOT EXCLUDE LIGHT When the seedlings are large enough to handle prick them out an pot on into 3" pots.Gradually acclimatise to outside conditions before finally planting out appx 15" apart. Later sowings that are overwintered in coldframes will produce larger larger plants. These plants are quite tall and will do best in a sheltered spot

The nigra hollyhock does not disappoint. It is stunning and most seeds grew to flower. Definitely ensure you know how to look after hollyhock for best results
