Leo Kotke My Feet are Smiling
This was one of the first LP vinyl records I bought as a teenager and with the changing audio technologies and my numerous moves across the country over the past 30 years I lost the album. So, I wasn't sure if I would still like it. I was right. I didn't like it. I loved it! This is truly a classic album! There is no better 12 string guitarist than Leo. The songs are better than I remember and his deep voice draws you in to the classic ballads he sings. He has other album, all very good and some with no vocals. But, I gotta say Leo that I love your vocals on this one!He does not disappoint! Truly an album for your collection!

My Feet are smiling too!!
I first got turned on to Leo back in the 70's when I was in school out in New York. Years later, I was trying to remember the name of the great guitar player I had heard way back then but could never remember it. Finally one day his name popped into my head. I listened to this album back then and still remember the songs all these years later. Leo is an amazing guitarist and this is a great album.

Totally Awesome
I ran across Leo Kottke by accident. I bought a copy of his album Peligroso. It was great. I started buying his albums and they all were great. This one is one of the best and every song is terrific. Leo is one of the premier guitar players in America. He sings in some of his albums and others are instrumentals. He is great either way. I have 5 of his albums now and if any one of the five is better than the others it is this one. But, the worst one is great!

NO ONE Can Touch Leo Kottke's Acoustic Style!!
Not since the death of THE greatest guitarist of all time, Chet Atkins, has there remained the only truly unique guitar virtuoso, and that's Leo Kottke. Too bad this came out WAYYYYY back in 1972, and it, along with his "Armadillo" CD [Six and Twelve String Guitars], are still my favorite's of his. I saw him live, in Dallas, back in the mid-'80's and he was EXTRAORDINARY, and he played several favorites from this CD. Listen, and see if you don't agree he's the best acoustic guitarist you've heard!

My ears are smiling
I had this on vinyl in college when it came out and I wore it out. I had never heard anything like it before and it is still amazing. I got the CD as a Christmas gift and have enjoyed repeated listenings. His vocals are different but his rendering of "Louise" is still the best one around. The guitar playing on "Busted Bicycle" and "June Bug" are awesome. If you have never heard Leo Kottke then this is the place to start.

Great Leo
I have owned the LP for many many years. This is the first live of Kottke and it has some great highlights: Eggtoth, Blue Dot and the beautiful Louise - it's also one of the first time you get to hear Leo Kottke talk. It's fresh and alive. Very High Recommendations for all Leo Kottke fans.

There's something about Leo
He comes in from a different angle, you sense his joy and it is captivating. He tells stories with music, and fills the soul with a new rhythm, a new beat. He gives you the power to face a new day. I know of no other musician who affects me this way...

Shows off the fantastic dexterity of a superb guitarist
Shows off the fantastic dexterity of a superb guitarist. Easter is the standout track for me but that is not to disparage the others.

The greatest Kottke
I bought this in vinyl many years ago and almost wore it out. Had to get the CD. The remastering is very good, and to my mind enhances the experience. The recording itself is superb, presenting Kottke live at the Guthrie theatre in Minneapolis and in great form in 1972. It is all there, his energy, his wit (not enough of it here to my mind) and that great flat falsetto voice...perfect for "Louise", a version that will stick in your mind! Many reviewers seem to prefer his studio recordings, a couple of which I had before but never found them as good as the live stuff. I tried once again recently with "My Father's Face", based on the 5-star review. Great producer (it hardly gets better than T-Bone Burnett), and the accompaniments quite subtle, as they should be. But no oomph, and little energy. (Some artists can pull off great studio recordings...try Bob Dylan's "Oh Mercy", produced by Daniel Lanois in 1989....but Kottke to my mind is not one of them.) So if you want Kottke going flat out and giving his all, this is the CD you want. I have seen him live at least three times now, and even in his later years he is an awesome and unique musician...and this disk demonstrates this in spades! My second choice would be "Live in Europe", another great disk and worth if only for his signature song, "Pamela Brown", a hilarious reverse love story with an incredible guitar solo, and for several other tunes, including "Wheels". Enjoy!

■ Leo Kottke (g,vo)Recorded December 19th. & 20th., 1972 at Tyrone Guthrie Theater, Minneapolis
