Perfect for my production!
This worked perfectly for what I needed. I was in a play and needed a sword that didn't look stupid and could with stand A LITTLE combat. Great price, arrived just in time, can withstand being hit by a club and being dropped from about waste high (but I was consccious not to get too carried away). Yes it's oily! That's just how it ships and it's ok, I'm sure it's rust protection. It's a little long for stage, but was just the ticket and even made that great sound when being unsheathed. Some reviews said it got stuck in the sheath, but mine was perfect! I'm not sure this would survive an extended run, more intense combat or even if it would survive blade to blade contact, but I'd recommend this to theatre companies anywhere (PS althought the blade is dull and would pose no danger cutting someone, the tip is extremely pointy and could easily cut through a curtain if not careful, don't let kids use it)

good saber, lousy scabard
I loved the look and feel of the saber. However, when paired with the saber that I thought was forged particularly for the sword, I found them incompatible. The scabbard is off balance for anything other than display. (Short translation: do not anticipate using this for Civil War Reenactments!)When paired with the scabbard, the saber I received refused to insert initially. It took five tries to insert just as a test. And then, the saber got stuck in the scabbard, would need a small herd of elephants to remove without heat. Scabbard also nicked blade in the first tries to pair them. Which was irrelevant once I couldn't budge the saber out of the scabbard.Items were well packaged, but items were covered in machine oil to protect the sword and scabbard. Open package at own risk. Apparently, according to my packaging, the sword was forged in India. But why 4 stars with the amount of dissatisfaction? Here are the real reasons to own this item:1) the saber, as I said before: is beautiful. It stands alone. If I had the time, I would have melted down the scabbard and reforged my own.2) the company I worked with was well connected, answered my emails, handled the fact that I did return the sword well.3) I appreciated the fact that the sword is dull. My intentions were to use it in a reenactment with children and as dicey as it may be to have a sword with children, just the completed look to a uniform with a sword would have lent credibility. In addition, the ability for at least them to see the sword (and not pull it out) would have been an additional useful feature. But due to the fact that the sword and scabbard did not fit well, I did not want to put the children in harms way with two very heavy metal objects.

Sharp enough to drive a nail
Got this to use as a prop for my Cowboy persona. It is so dull I don't worry about anyone hurting themselves on it.It was noted in the comments the product was dull. I am happy with it as delivered/advertised!

Decent but beware. Ordered two
I ordered two sabers for a ets/pcs gift. We are in a cavalry division so it makes sense. One sword was flawless and only needed the leather where the blade meets the hilt reglued. The other sword has a very noticeable Crack in the guard of the hilt. For the price it works.Packaged very securely, but I suppose not well enough.

Beautiful replica Cavaly Sword.
I wanted a companion piece for my original Springfield 1855 musket and this replica cavalry sword is perfect. Solidly built with well constructed grip and guard it is heavier than I expected. All in all, if you want a beautiful display piece you cant beat this for the money.

Shabby quality for price
With all the positive reviews I thought it wouldn't be that bad. That the few scuffs were flukes and it would still be a decent decorative gift. When this arrived I was not expecting the AMOUNT of flaws I this product. The everything about it has scuffs or shabby craftsmanship.I was going to give this to a veteran who is going through a hard time, but this is just an embarrassment.I will never buy this again.
