The Secret Cities of Mark Kistler [Blu-ray]

I learned a few things about the man that inspired my life of art that I never knew. An amazing tale of survival and a lifelong dedication to the craft of teaching kids to draw. Only criticisms I have is that I wish there was footage of the old Secret City Mural (I know it exists somewhere. Last I knew he said his mother had it displayed in her classroom... but that was years ago) and it doesn't go much into his current day to day life. I woulda loved to see more of his daily life, being a dad and travelling to the places to teach kids how to draw.Without Mark Kistler showing a six year old me how to draw on the Secret City back in the 80s, I wouldn't be who I am today. I owe my whole life to this man. I'm glad I got to know him a little better. Good doc overall. Thank you for making it!

“The Secret Cities of Mark Kistler” documents the development and success of Mark Kistler’s long-running and the wildly successful PBS series, “The Secret City” and “The Imagination Station”. As one who grew up watching PBS and both of these shows in the 80s and 90s, it was really cool to see footage from these episodes again and to learn more about all of the individuals who all played such significant roles on each of the programs.This is a great documentary!! It was so interesting to learn about everything that happened to get the programs on the air. I really enjoyed it, and my tween daughter liked it too - she’s even asked when we can watch it again!
