Knowing His Secret (Year of the Billionaire series Book 1)

This story gets better page by page.
I liked this book, it was a quick read about the typical millionaire and middle class girl that is swept off her feet and is hoping for more then he is willing to give...at first. I like Raina, she is just like any girl off the street, she is kind, smart, and pretty but needs some excitement in her life. Then there is Tristan, handsome, rich, smart, and oh so sexy and he wants a relationship with her that holds no expectations. I will say what I did not like was how he treated her at first, how strange to have sex with her for the first time at a friends house in the loft while there is a party going on downstairs, not very classy. I do like how he jumped in to help her parents, the whole union thing with her parents was unexpected, I guess we will see what comes out of that. I will say I worried that he was going to get with one of those fake rich girls that kept hanging around, I was glad that the author did not go the expected way. I am curious to find out what happened to his first love. Tristan got better and better as the book went on, less of a entitled jerk and actually seemed to be getting closer to Raina and treated her much better. I am looking forward to the next book to see if some of these mysteries are uncovered. This book was worth the time reading, liked it more as it progressed.

Best Billionaire Story Yet
Finding this book is the reason I read so many other authors in my genre. When something works so well for me, I know there is something in it to emulate to improve my own writing. Here's what works for me in this one: the author has built an environment with believable detail--the behind-the-scenes preparation for a community theater play. That environment helped shape the characters into people I could relate to, especially the main character, which is the point of a first-person style. Raina is open to her sensuality without being a ninny or a slut. Her very real concerns don't stop her from enjoying the developing relationship, but they keep her somewhat grounded and she never forgets that she still doesn't know this man in the way she wants to.As much as I like it, the one thing that keeps it from five stars, for me and me only, is that I'm a bit bored by the billionaire craze. I would have enjoyed this more if Tristan had just been believably well-off. Other than that, I have to say, well-crafted, well-written, smokin' hot sex scenes (loved the phone sex!) and none of the jarring editing errors that mar so many indie authors' work. For the first time since FSOG, which was my introduction to the modern erotica genre, I want to read the rest of the series. Outstanding job, Ms. Falls.

A Decent Read
Knowing His Secret is a quick little romance novella centered around Raina, a young stage manager at theater in a well to-do area. She then meets Tristan a billionaire who enjoys acting in his free time, and has set his eyes on her.I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I had some issues with the set up towards the beginning though, I mean…who trades jobs? I imagine that’s a lot of paperwork that the bosses have to go through just because two best friends are bored in their respected fields. At any rate, this one turned out to be a quick, fun and easy read. The main character is pretty likable and has her head on straight when it comes to a lot of things, no ditsy poor girl here. She’s comfortable with her lifestyle, comfortable with the money she makes, and does immediately warm to the idea of having expensive gifts bestowed upon her. Tristan takes longer to like, simply because his mood is capable of taking a turn when he’s stressed out…and you don’t find out why until about half way through the book…even then it’s only second hand knowledge so there is no detail. The whole ‘lover to confidant’ thing is sort of sweet, and I can definitely see some confrontations happening in the future because of it so I think it’ll be interesting to see how Tristan reacts to Raina knowing part of his past that he keeps closed away. The chemistry between these two was pretty good too, not the best…but it definitely there. The sex is a bit on the vanilla side and does make this one a softer, though not necessarily sweeter read. This one does end a on a bit of a cliffhanger as they fly off to vacation, but it’s not too bad. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on the second one because I’d really like to know how it goes.

If you like take control alpha males then you'll like this
This is a very by the numbers billionaire romance, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Tropes aren't bad so long as they are woven together interestingly.I did like this story. Raina was a good pov character and we did get a bechdel test pass...rare in romance and novellas. Tristan was a very typical controlling rich man with a tragic past (tm).I really liked the use of summer theater as a way to move things along. That was unique since it wasn't expected. What I didn't like was the lack of the hero asking permission to kiss/have sex.Technically, the novella could have used a good proofreader with an eye to commas and dependent clauses. It's enough that I noticed it.The story ends on a happy for now ending, which is totally acceptable. There's enough here to satisfy readers who only want to read the one, but still encourages readers to buy the next novella.A solid four stars.

Magnum, huh?
Sorry couldn't resist. Just finished reading Knowing His Secret and enjoyed it much. I have now visited your website, subscribed to your newsletter, and swung back by Amazon to buy the Year of the Billionaire box set. Thanks for the fun, still developing story of Raina and Tristan. I am looking forward to books 2 and 3.In the couldn't resist column I must say I read The Condom Conundrum with what I hope was just the right amount of 'tongue in cheek' applied. My first thought with Magnum naturally went to the yummy chocolate dipped ice cream with caramel. Okay...pretty good possible substitute. Works for me. LOL. Thanks K.C. for the story (which I will continue and finish), for your website, and for your humor which shines through.

Unsure, but book 2 & 3 FANTASTIC
I have to be completed honest and I was quite disappointed with this first book. I thought from the blurb that this would be a nice follow up from bared to you/50 shades, but I felt absolutely no chemistry between the couple. I felt they were just 'friends with benefits' and the word friends is probably being too nice. I also couldn't understand how all these successful business men were acting in a theatre for this book. However, as I had already bought book 2 and 3 I decided to carry on, and I'm so glad that I did. I would urge anyone who has the same thoughts as me after reading this first book to continue on because book 2 and 3 fulfilled all my expectations (almost like they were a different book to this one). The chemistry is fantastic between them and you are just rooting for them both to have their happily ever after. Some people have really enjoyed this first book and I hope more do, but if you're like me then I definitely recommend you to carry on because it is so much better in book 2 and 3.

What a great start to a new series
What a great start to a new series. I loved Tristan from the start and the way his relationship with Raina develops. The book was worth reading for the telephone conversations between the two alone - enough to say that these were "hot"! Whilst Tristan initially appears cold and dominating, he shows a caring side when he immediately steps in to help Raina's parents after her father is threatened and hurt. Am sure that Raina will find ways to tame the dominating Tristan and look forward to seeing how she copes with Tristan's dominance in the next book. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I give it 2.5 rating
This book didn't have a lot to it really. The sex scenes were pretty hot but the story around this was a let down. It all happened very quickly between the two characters and I felt there was a chunk missing from it all. Before I knew it, it was the end! It was sudden and didn't have a natural ending as you expect. Not that I was sad it ended. Unfortunately I won't continue with this series.

Not finding out his secret!
This is erotica. Quite well written but with overtones of male domination/female submission which perhaps provides an excuse for limited character development. There seems to be a sub plot around the true status of the male protagonist which is only hinted at in Book 1 perhaps as an inducement to consider buying Book 2 if you care enough.

Not sure.....
Hmmm.....not completely sure about this book. I wasn't really feeling the chemistry between the main characters or the story in general. I'm considering reading it again to see how i feel a second time.
