Ordered this for a toddler birthday gift. Colors are vibrant and match well with real world food. Items are great for teaching portions and required daily food groups. Very easy to clean with soap and water; just rinse and air dry. Entertains well alone or as an addition to play kitchens.

I love learning resources toys, they never disappoint and this set is no different. The foods are all made of hard rubber and can take a beating. We have had the same LR foods for almost 5yrs and they are all still in great shape. The baskets with this set will definitely encourage sorting, but due to their smaller size, my type A boy got a bit bothered that all the items didn't fit. I think that the issue wouldn't bother less particular kids, but for him the grains and dairy were a struggle. LOL If you want play foods to last, daycare setting or hand me downs, you can't go wrong with Learning Resources.

I got this to use in a hands-on food groups teaching unit for young children and this is wonderful. There are multiple foods to be sorted into four basic food groups: meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables, and grains/carbohydrates. Four bins with coordinating pictures are included, but there is no teaching guide included. My biggest complaint is that the bins have only pictures, and the pictures are not the same foods as the pretend foods included in the set. For example, the grains/carbohydrates bin has a picture of a croissant, pancakes, muffin, waffles, and a loaf of bread. The included food for this group is a loaf of bread, a croissant, a pretzel, a bun, and a bagel. So my preschoolers were very confused by the pictures the first time we used this set. Also, the yogurt has a picture of strawberries on it, so trying to explain that strawberry-flavored yogurt is a dairy product was tricky because they could only see the strawberries, which made them keep wanting to put it with the fruits. I suppose it's good to explain that there are more foods in each group than what are provided, but young children will find it confusing. That said, I still like this set.

These are nice quality play food. Good variety, they have a more rubbery feel than cheap hard plastic. My kids love them. And they are a good size.
