Chuckit! Air Fetch Ball, Large 3in, for Dogs 60-100lbs, 1 Pack

My aggressive chewer loves these! I would say if you have a BIG dog get the extra large. These are good, though, and my dog who can destroy anything in an hour loves these and they last longer than a lot of the so-called tough chew balls.

These are brilliant! My bulldogs favorite ball. They are bouncy. Perfect for playing fetch. She also likes to put the whole thing in her mouth and chew on it sometimes. We have the medium and large. I like the large size because I’m nervous she will get the smaller ones somehow stuck in her throat. But because of the way they are made it makes me feel better about at least being able to breathe. Excellent quality and durability! *Update.* The balls can’t be expected to last forever, especially when playing fetch and tug of war with them. And yes they work well for that since I can easily hook my finger on the ball to get ahold. It’s been over 6 months and there are some areas that are worn down and beginning to break apart. However, I’m impressed on how well these hold up to daily play. I cannot praise these enough. The only thing that I’d like to see is more colors since my Gracie doesn’t want to share with her new brother.

I decided to buy this because we were forecast to get some very hot weather, and I was concerned about how much my ball-obsessed, reluctant to quit, border collie mix was already panting during play sessions. He loves the regular balls by this company, to the point he refuses to take other balls when offered (he *may* be a little spoiled, lol), and initially refused to take this one, but did go get it when I threw it for him. He dropped it several times on the way back on that first retrieve—I’m guessing the openings felt odd in his mouth—but after that he’s been happy to play with it. I noticed right away that his panting wasn’t as heavy, both during and after play. On the way back home from the park, when he stopped to sniff various trees on the boulevard, instead of dropping the ball several times as he does with the original version, he continued to hold it in his mouth. I had thought that his dropping the ball was due to getting distracted by whatever he was smelling (which seemed a little odd considering how ball obsessed he is), but now I think it was so he could catch his breath after playing, something he doesn’t need to do with this new ball. I’ve only had this for a few days, so I can’t really comment on durability except that I’d expect the design makes this ball more susceptible to puppies or hard core chewers, which isn’t a concern for my guy. I have noticed he will sometimes catch or carry this by a single strand, which I’d guess puts more stress on the material, so it’s durability is probably going to be less than the normal ball, but I feel the trade off in improved breathing is worth it. All in all, so far I’m very pleased with this purchase, and ordered another in case the first gets lost or damaged.

Dog liked them, played fetch, need bigger treats than the ones I have, treats fell out to easy. Durability is good. A little light weight to get a far throw, but it works to play fetch.

UPDATE/ while I take full responsibility for allowing it, this ball has almost zero resistance to chewing. I was able to avoid any damage at home since the pup was close, but at the dog park and 40+ feet away it only took a few moments to rip it in two places. It still throws, but (for me) it is only for highly supervised backyard tossing....also...it floats./UPDATE I just got this in today and immediately took it out to the backyard for a trial run. The price point ($12.67 for 1 medium ball) is a bit steep, but my 3 y/o pitbull absolutely loves this ball (once he gets over the initial "Hey! This isn't my ball..."). It already seems like he is able to play longer and it does sound like his breathing is noticeably less restricted. He absolutely loves all things chuckit (we have at least 1 of just about every medium ball they offer), but in addition to his love of playing fetch, he has a tendency to keep the ball in his mouth as he is trotting around the dog park, and even when he stops for a rest. I hadn't really considered that it might reduce his play duration by restricting his breathing, but it makes sense conceptually. The other balls won't be going into full retirement, but depending on how he takes to it, this one might be getting top billing in the rotation. The concept (and apparent execution, so far) of this ball design is pretty slick. Initial thoughts: the design is notably lighter and the ball doesn't fly as far or fast as the other chuckit balls. It also doesn't bounce nearly as well (this makes sense, but is worth noting when considering it). One reviewer mentioned their dog destroying it, and I would certainly expect that to happen with most dogs since there are so many gaps/holes for them to since claws and teeth into. We don't generally leave our pups unsupervised with any chuckit balls anyway, but this ball will be one that is 100% supervised only. I look forward to giving this a full blown test at the dog park. *note: the petmate website (parent company of chuckit) has these for a better price, especially if you buy multiple...it might not be prime, but I don't NEED to get it in two days

We have a 6 month old Golden Retriever puppy who chews and destroys toys. This lasted under one hour. The size says large and it was what I would consider a medium size. I also bought the same toy in extra large and he destroyed it, too. The company has been great about refunding the money. The toy would be a lot of fun for a dog who loves to run and fetch, but not a chewer. Save some money and get the ChuckIt ball that is orange with a blue stripe. (size large) He loves it and has played with it (chewed on it) and it’s still going strong. Bonus is no squeaker so it doesn’t drive you crazy.

This ball lasted 15 minutes with my dog before she had it in pieces. My dog is an aggressive chewer and I was hopeful but it didn't work out.

My staffy-pit mix absolutely LOVES this ball. She is pretty much OBSESSED with it. It isn't fully chew proof or super long lasting, but it is worth the buy (and eventual repeat buy). My dog loves to chew on her toys, and this one is holding up pretty good. I definitely need to get a new one soon though. My GSP and pit play tug with it. I've had to set up a subscription because if the ball has to be thrown out, my pitty can't handle it. She is so in love with this ball

Our 40+ kg lurcher loves this ball. It's light and easy to throw (with or without the launcher) and has survived repeated chomping sessions. It seems quite expensive for what it is, but this one ball has survived numerous other toys that between them have cost far more. Ultimately, good value for money.

Both of my German Shepherds really like to carry these balls on their walks. I wanted a non solid ball that would allow my dogs to adjust the tension on their jaw. With a solid ball it just seems that their jaws are wedged open. This ball allows them to bite down on it and it isn’t too heavy for them to carry for a couple of hours. Of course the main reason was that because of it’s construction the dogs can breathe easily while carrying it. Added bonus is that the ball floats too. I can have a game of tug as well as the ball is very robust. I just rinse under the outdoor tap after each walk. The dogs have had the balls for a few months and they are still like new.

We have 90 lb. male labradoodle with unpredictable tendencies when it comes to toys. We never know if something is going to be a hit or a total dud. Wait, that's not true... any plush toys with squeakers lose their life within 5 minutes of meeting Zed. And tennis-type balls get broken in half in about 30 seconds (just a couple of good chomps). I ordered this ball because we had one sort of like it (but a little bigger) that he absolutely LOVED but it disappeared from our yard. I wasn't sure if it would be a good purchase or not, but I liked the holes in it to allow him to breathe when it's in his mouth. It arrived, and his joy level went through the roof. Sometimes he destroys rubbery toys and other times he doesn't. And sometimes he'll play nicely with a toy for months and all of a sudden tear it to shreds one evening for no apparent reason. I wanted to wait a while before posting a review to see if this ball was going to meet its demise. We have had it for 2 months. He LOVES it... and I love it too. I'm comfortable throwing it in the house because it won't dent the walls or bend the blinds. :o) When he picks a toy out of his bin to play with, he always brings this little orange ball to me. I wasn't sure when I ordered it of how the size was going to work for him. The ball he lost was 4 inches and this new ball was just 3 inches . But he doesn't seem to mind it at all, and I can tell that there's no need for me to worry about him swallowing it while fetching. He likes to squish it in his jaws (not bite for destruction, just chomp for up-and-down-ness) - I think he likes how flexible it is. At this point, I'd definitely order another one for him. I haven't tested it yet in our launcher to see if it fits, but it's still a winner for us even if it doesn't. And it's a frozen winter wonderland where we live so I haven't been able to test it in a pond but I don't think it'd float much above the water anyway. Probably better as a land toy or pool toy.
