The Naval Institute Guide to the Ships and Aircraft of the U.S. Fleet, 19th Edition

USN ships and aircraft - 19th edition
Outstanding! As always Norman Polmar has done an excellent job. There is nothing comparable on any other navy since the Naval Institute stopped publishing its guide to the former Soviet navy (we need an up-date on the Russian Federation Navy). Unfortunately after 40 years this is Polmar's last edition of this seminal work. It will be interesting to see who will step into his shoes...My one major criticism is the quality of production: the paper is far too thin. It should be thicker and coated, which would result in the photographs being better reproduced. I hope the publisher's address this issue for the next edition, especially for such an expensive book.Regardless of my criticism, I would recommend this book. And highly so!

The naval Institute Guide to the ships and aircraft of the US Fleet 19th edition.
A masterpiece by an author who knows his subject really well. Pity this is I believe his last involvement with this particular book. Very large and very heavy but worth waiting for. I saved a considerable amount of money by buying a shop soiled copy(Torn Dust cover) which I was able to repair. Essential reading for those interested in the US Navy.
