Organic Dried Shiitake Mushrooms, Premium Japanese Donko 2.5 oz (70 g) for Umami Dashi Broth, Pro Cooking

These rehydrate very well, not tough or chewy at all like some very affordable ones I've tried. These add a great savory flavor to soups. While they are delicious, I have found much more affordable options that reconstitute quite well, so the value is not there for me. However if these are in your budget, they are fantastic.

I recently picked up a bag of these dried shiitake mushrooms, and I've been happy with them overall. They come in a 2.5 ounce resealable bag. It's great that they're organic and come from Japan, a place known for its high quality mushrooms. One of the biggest perks for me is that they're so easy to store long term. Unlike fresh mushrooms that go bad quickly, these should last for ages. They also rehydrate really easily. I just place them in water and let them soak overnight and you've got plump, usable mushrooms. I can't tell much difference between these and fresh shiitakes. They have that same rich, earthy flavor that makes them a great addition to soups, stews, or stir-fries. I've been using some in scrambled eggs almost every morning. These dried shiitakes are a convenient way to keep some on hand for whenever your recipe needs it.

Donkos are absolutely delicious, meaty and flavorful. Their amount and size of these were a TOTAL DISSAPPOINTMENT. I'd pay $24 for real good donkos but these were not worth. Tiny mushrooms and in such small amount. There are definitely MUCH BETTER OPTIONS. I will NEVER BUY THESE EVER AGAIN AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

These mushrooms reconstituted very nicely when left in the fridge in a bag of water overnight. Very impressed.

These shiitake mushrooms are dehydrated from Japan! I am surprised by the quality of these shiitake mushrooms. They rehydrate very nicely but more importantly, they are so fragrant! They add so much umami flavor to whatever I cook whether it be braised foods or soups.I usually rehydrate these mushrooms overnight so they rehydrate nicely. Once they're rehydrated, you can choose to either slice them up or use them whole. For the price, I was expecting a bigger pack. This pack of mushrooms is a lot smaller than I expected but I think that it's definitely worth it for the price because they are the best shiitake mushrooms that I have ever tried! I love that it comes in a resealable pouch that helps keep it airtight and dry.

We like that these dried shiitake mushrooms are somewhat uniform in size and come in a resealable package. They're also mostly clean, but definitely require some rinsing off prior to consumption (as instructed on the flyer they include).Following the instructions on the flyer, we rinsed off and then soaked a few mushrooms in cold water to reconstitute them. In fact, we left them completely submerged in cold water overnight in the refrigerator.After their overnight soak, we drained and rinsed off the shiitake mushrooms, then removed most of the stems from each. I sliced them up to sauté ' for use in omelettes and the aroma was wonderful!We found that the shiitake mushroom were tough and chewy in our omelettes, but the flavor was excellent. It's possible that I didn't slice them thin enough prior to sautéing, so I'll try that next time.

They look nearly perfect. Intact and dried nicely. Dehydrated and provided the great flavor I expect from good shiitake. Too pricey for me (25 bucks at this time) to get regularly though. Besides the cost, I am happy with them and would recommend them.

I soaked these in water overnight in the refrigerator since slow reconstitution preserves the flavor better than trying to do so quickly. I was rewarded with great flavor. These mushrooms plump out and look great when reconstituted. The resealable ziplock allows you to use as many or few as you want and since they are dried you can keep them without worry of spoilage.
