Skin Deep: Looking Beyond the Tattoos Hardcover – October 24, 2017

The media could not be loaded. Incredible! After seeing the YouTube video with the reactions I definitely wanted to find this book. When it arrived in the mail I was more than surprised with the size & quality!!! Using lenticular printing for the cover was a great touch! (For people who don’t know what lenticular printing is... it’s when the picture changes as you move it around so it shows the image with & without tattoos) It’s packed with full page photos and stories about each person. I use to fly out of LAX airport weekly and always stopped at Homeboy Cafe for something to eat before the flight... it’s part of such an amazing organization and it was great to see they were used for this book!

I commend the author, be able to see another human being for what they really are. The author takes the men of this book on a journey of self discovery, and it is a very heart warming to see the pictures and read the stories of these men. My life is enriched by learning about others’ experience, strengths, and hopes. What a concept for a book! Very refreshing to know that there is humanity and compassion still around. Beautifully written, I would pay for the second version of this book and wait for however long it takes.

I have just started reading the book and I already love it! The people in the pictures are beautiful, you get a very personal insight into their lives. I really like that the text the stories of the people who are interviewed as they said in their own words. The book shows how important compassion and giving people a chance can be.

Extremely inspiring and eye-opening. Fantastic stories and reading them has changed my view point/judgement on others. Thank you Steven for this gift.
