Chef Tie Back Cap

This hat matches my striped apron perfectly. I am only 5 feet tall and my head is presumably on the smaller side. Even so, the elastic was surprisingly a bit too tight to be comfortable.My easy fix was to simply snip off the elastic on the back of the cap at both sides. I originally considered extending a longer strip of replacement elastic across the back in its place, but I can secure it comfortably and snugly using the ties alone so there is really no need. Be advised that if you do this, there will be zero tension in the hat itself and it is the equivalent of tying on a cloth bandana with no elastic. That works for me just fine, but I am only a home cook. Even so, I still like to wear a hat while cooking for hygiene purposes.

This is such a great chef hat and I've even had multple compliments on it from random people while running errands between services.It is heavy duty and made from a thicker material than my other hats which will mean it'll hold up well, but it is really sweaty wearing it through a desert summer.It also has an elastic band that can get pretty painful after about the 6th hour, so by the 14th hour I'm ready to take it off. As a petite female, my hat size runs small so I can see where this could be an issue for anyone with a larger sized dome.All in all, the only reason for the star reduction is the possible brain squeeze it could cause average sized melons after working long hours but when you're a chef you learn to adapt and know how to deal with being uncomfortable at times. I'd still highly recommend this to anyone though.

I wear size small in hats, yet the headband elastic was still snug on this hat, and I notice other reviewers commenting it ran small. I could see that being uncomfortable for a larger head size. At the same time, the fabric is cut in a way that doesn't fully tighten up with the ties, so it sort of "mushroomed" on my head. If I were a celebrity chef and has a camera crew in the kitchen is search for more stylish headgear, BUT for my budget and use, this was generally comfortable, absorbed sweat, washes up well, and looked ok enough for the occasional appearance outside the kitchen. I might get a few other brands/styles for comparison, but for the price might still get a couple more for backup or to loan to assistants.

It’s okay. My boyfriend liked it but it looks like a bonnet, he has a smaller head and it was big on the forehead. One size won’t fit all, kinda cheap materialUpdate: 2021 After a couple washes the bonnet went away and the material held up for awhile I’m changing it to five because this is the one he wants now. Just need to get the new look washed away and worn. He has a small head so it fits perfectly

One of the best chef caps I purchased. I've purchased almost 4 different types of skull caps and didn't like any of them due to not fitting properly with my hair being in a bun. I love the comfy sweat band inside the cap and the flap to cover my bun.

like the thickness of the fabric as I am using it while working in the ER. did not like the headband. It was too tight and by the end of my 12 hour shift my head was killing me.

It was also a gift for my husband, thought he would love it, but he hasn't used it yet and he said it was ok. It is hard to buy for others sometimes even when it is your own husband! Lol!

Super comfy! And easy to get tied up as long as you are coordinated behind your head.
