Impressive quality and drawing experience on a budget
I have A LOT of mechanical pencils. This Tombow Zoom 505 Mechanical Pencil was an unusual purchase for me, because normally I don't buy mechanical pencils that look fancy. In my experience, so many beautiful pencils sacrifice comfort or performance for aesthetics.I'm happy to say that this pencil has it all. It's gorgeous. The body is metal, but very light. Uncapping is smooth and advancing the lead requires little effort. I prefer wide-barrel pens and pencils, so this baby fits right in the pocket. The rubber grip is not as pleasant as I find silicone grips to be, but it does the job of providing grippiness and confidence when using the pencil. Everything is weighted nicely for my hand.Quick note: I have not written with this pencil yet. When I write, I tend to hold the pencil more snugly in general, tucked into the crook of my thumb. But I've only drawn / sketched with this pencil and my looser drawing grip, further back on my pencil, makes this pretty perfect for me. I find myself reaching for this over my trusty Pentel P205. I don't usually buy pencils as gifts, but if I have a journal and pencil gift combo, I would definitely consider this one gift-worthy.If I could have one wish, it would be that this pencil came in more colors. It would be lovely in white, or a pale pastel metal like pink or purple. Maybe offer it with gold or rose gold metal as well.

Best Mechanical Pencil You’ll Ever Own!
I already own this brand & style pen (Gold Color) and I LOVE it! I use it when I travel because it’s such good quality I know it’ll make it through. It’s heavy like a pen due to the quality materials used. This brand is one of my top favorites & their higher end version is even better! I sketch, write, & use it a lot! The first I bought was so good, I had to buy another! Tombow is a great brand.

Beautiful mechanical pencil to complement Tombow Gel Pen
I bought the Tombow mechanical pencil to match the same model gel pen. They look great together in my office and work so well. I normally stay towards neutral colors such as gray or black, but this time I purchased the royal blue pen and pencil. They are great, comfortable to write with for someone with large hands. I almost saved them for my nephew who is graduating this month. Almost, but not quite. I'll just have to give him a gift certificate instead. I like these too much and I'm not giving them away!

ALMOST not bad. (Please implement a click-cap!)
Feels VERY nice in the hand. Nice action. And despite the eraser being somewhat difficult to get to, it's nice to know it's there if needed. What makes this pencil a deal-breaker is the fact that it depends on a friction-fit to hold the cap on. NO CLICK. That, paired with it being a fairly heavy pencil, and it's only a matter of time before gravity does it's job and I essentially have a hypodermic needle rolling around in my pocket, jabbing me in my sensitive parts. That has been my experience, anyways. If you don't use the clip and instead just let it roam free, you bypass that problem (the cap will stay on), but the clicker end bumps into things and jams lead into the cap all day. Reviewing the friction-fit itself shows that it's very wobbly and feels like it wants to let go (which it does.. often). It's very nice looking and would be a good option for a desk, but then you wouldn't need a cap, and there are better options out there. It's too bad. Engineering a good click-cap would have solved all of it.

Nice pencil, but has its issues.
The Tombow Zoom is undoubtedly nice pencil, with a full metal body and hard rubber grip. The pencil runs on the heavy side because of its materials, but I prefer heavier pencils anyways, so that's a plus in my book. It is reasonably pleasant to write with, and definitely has a classy, distinctive look. However, the Tombow Zoom has a couple of issues that cause me to shy away from using it most of the time. For starters, the metal body is a real magnet for fingerprints and lint, which is a tad annoying. In addition, the clicking mechanism (on my pencil atleast) is rather loose, and tends to jingle around a bit. Lastly, the metal body of my Tombow has picked up quite a few dents on it, which I was very surprised to see, as I consider myself to be reasonably gentle with my pencils.

Great travel pencil
I love mechanical pencils! While I have some great pencils at my desk, I was looking for a good pencil to keep with my notebook that gets thrown in bags and pockets. This pencil is fantastic for that. I love the weight and it writes well. It looks really nice and professional with my leather notebook, and also not like a pencil. One main draw back is that you need to unscrew the body of the pencil to access the eraser. While some people comment that they carry around a separate eraser for that, to me thats counterproductive to having a travel pencil.

Very nice mechanical pencil for a great price.
This pencil is both very stylish looking (brushed silver finish) and very functional. I wanted a pencil with a cap so it wouldn't accidentally feed out and then punch a hole in my pocket (or thigh). This is exactly what I was looking for. The only thing that even came close was the Mont Blanc at about five times the price. Very comfortable to hold too - nice hefty grip with a bit of rubber just where it is needed.
