Decent heat and fire-resistant material, no issues with them in my use-case at 80-250c so far.
This double pack of the Wonninek carbon felt based welding blankets arrived vacuum packed into a surprisingly small pouch that initially made me doubt the advertised size and thickness. Opening up that pouch revealed two identical blankets that puffed up to roughly the claimed size and thickness. They’re not huge, but if you’ve got a project that requires a small amount of flame resistant material, they will fit the bill. I took both a zippo and an arc based lighter to a small piece of the blankets and it had no problem with it so I'm happy enough with the performance to use it for my planned application which is well below both of those lighter’s temperatures and without an open flame. I don’t personally weld or braze so I haven’t been able to test them in the main advertised applications, so your mileage may vary, but all signs point to these being legit from my anecdotal testing. The planned use I mentioned was for making a DIY reflow & low temperature drying oven with a PID controller and as part of that project I wanted to add some insulation as it could be on for 4–6 hours. The sacrificial toaster oven had a tonne of space left hollow inside, so I packed most of what I could with ceramic insulation for better heat retention and temperature stability. I inevitably didn’t buy enough of the ceramic so figured it was worth padding the remainder with these blankets which are only slightly less heat-resistant than the ceramic. Additionally, I used a few layers of this material with some high temperature tape and it seems to be doing a good enough job as the electronics area isn’t getting nearly as warm as it was originally. The material cuts easily enough and while it’s as worrying as fibreglass or ceramics you should still take some reasonable precautions. The blanket has been more than capable of handling the drying(50-90c) & reflow (250c peak) temperatures from my tests so far, which is to be expected as it should be nothing for a welding blanket. Especially for short term applications like reflowing solder, where the temperatures peak for a minute or two.The value at the £15.99 or £15.19 with the voucher seems alright compared to alternatives from various sources in similar thickness and sizes so I can’t really fault the product at all. I wouldn’t personally run it anywhere near the claimed 2000F claimed limit but for my needs it’s been more than sufficient.

Useful for engine acoustic cover repair.
Used this as a cheap solution to my BMW n47 rear engine acoustic cover disintegrating. Slightly awkward size of the pieces so couldn’t do it in one cut. Careful pulling the material, it will tear. Nice and thick.

One piece perfect, the other caught fire?
How can one piece work perfectly, used several times and it's amazing. The other piece burned straight through and could have caused a very bad fire.I was so pleased to have found a product that worked so well, only to nearly burn my house down with the second piece???
