Not the best didn’t really work

I’ve had a few different versions of these splints and this one is by far the best so far. It holds its shape well once you’ve got it strapped up and I have slept with it on over night without issue. If feels well made and it’s comfortable enough if you get it set up right.Overall it’s yet to get rid of my plantar but it’s doing a decent job of making it feel a bit better in the mornings.

Am using this to keep a twisted ankle from locking up overnight when I sleep. It actually means, that I am not hobbling around first thing in the morning trying to cope with a dramatically reduced range of motion. The idea is that the brace keeps the foot in dorsiflexion (toes pointing upwards) and therefore keeps the achilles tendon and ligaments somewhat stretched, so that they don't shorten and stiffen overnight. I have tried another one of these which was effective, but had the anchor point further along the foot and so it tended to bend the toes backwards which was very uncomfortable after a while. This one doesn't do that which is a bonus, but the fabric itself is a bit tight and isn't too pleasant on the skin in the long term. However, I did find a solution to that, by using some cheap elastic tubular bandage from poundland to wear underneath it and that pretty much solved the problem. Overall, a handy item to have if you've sprained your ankle or suffer from tight achilles tendons etc.
