Just for Fun: The Story of an Accidental Revolutionary

Thanks Linus Torvalds, for your work!
Amazing autobiography. As the name implies, throughout the reading I never felt this is a story about a serious software project. Reading through every chapter, it draws a picture of an inexperienced 21 year old boy who’s perhaps writing a fragile non-working piece of software just to play around with computers in a ‘not very stable’ situation with all the problems pulling him away from a normal process. But here you go, he is the mastermind behind the biggest software ever written, in any possible aspect. How smart and mature someone could be to write and manage the development process of such software that is fast, secure, and stable; And some day it would power much of the internet, supercomputers as well as smartphones.Great story. Highly recommended.

Funny and real..
If the plethora (and I use the word knowing its negative nuance) of autobiographies of 20-year old popstars and their angst over clothes/ cars/ clubs has made you wonder about the absurdity of the need to write an autobiography in your 20s, this one may change your mind. For this is the story of a man who did not set out but managed to challenge the monopolistic power of the Goliath called Microsoft, through an OS called Linux. This humble and intelligent, and always terribly funny, account of Linus Torvalds's life as an accidental innovator. It traces in great detail how Linux came about and builds a picture of the man who still works for a living, because he chose to stand by his beliefs. For innovators and entrepreneurs, it is a great study of how EFD (eye for detail) and keen project management (even if Linus didnt see it that way) are essential to making a success of any concept.Highly recommended. If you have a child/ teenage prodigy around you, it will make a great gift too!

A brilliant read.
A brilliant book telling the story of how the mighty Linux operating system came into being in Linus Torvalds bedroom.Who would have thought that one day it would run all the worlds super computers, most of the giant Internet servers, most of the cloud computing and storage systems, many major networks (London Stock Exchange for one!), car and aircraft systems, the base kernel for the Android OS and much, much more.

Gift
Actually it was a gift for my boyfriend, but he told me he love it. He's fan of Linux (and user of course) and all open source stuff. He found this book very interesting and sometimes funny.
