Nice breeder box
My female guppy all of the sudden started dropping fry. I bought a small breeder box for the few I seen and was able to catch. Then I noticed she was dropping more so I needed a bigger box to keep the fry. I got this one and it’s a nice size. It’s just as advertised. My first breeder box has different style so I thought I’d try this style and it did work but in order to feed fry you have to take off top part or try and squeeze into one of the two small square openings that’s on the lid. I did have to almost take my aquarium lid off to place this breeder box inside but no big deal. I like that you can add whatever piece you’re needing whether it’s the divider or the bottom part that keeps fry at bottom. It’s not hard to figure out or hard to put together. The suction cups worked good. It did float at top of tank. It’s a nice box. I chose to go with a different style cuz this style was not big enough to hold the 30 fry my guppy dropped, but I wanted to at least write this review and say it’s your personal preference! This is a nice breeder box, my pics show how you can put some pieces in or leave out. Depending on your tank size, and if you have fry or your fish is getting ready to drop, or if you just need to separate your fish from community tank, this could be a good option! Check out others and pick the best one suited to your tank and fish. Good luck 🐠

Keeps my aquarium plants safe!
I have two goldfish that love to eat my aquarium plants! I wanted them to have the benefits of live plants, without having the poor plants torn to shreds and this was the perfect solution! It’s very durable and has stayed closed even after my goldfish continued to ram it off the wall! It feels sturdy and secure and I also liked that it came with an optional divider. I had the box for over a month now and it still works great! The box is vented so my plants still get the water flow through it while staying protected. I recommend!

Adequate temporary "isolation" box
Disclaimer: I have not attempted to use this for breeding. We have a white cloud minnow that becomes aggressive during feeding and use this to "isolate" him from the other fish during such times. ** This box DOES NOT isolate ill or potentially contaminated fish. Water moves freely through the slats on either short side of the box. ** It is effective for keeping him from attacking the other fish while food is available and is pretty easy to use in place of a net to capture him in our small 10 gallon tank. The suction cups holding it to the side of the tank, however, are difficult to detach and reattach to the box every time we feed. And he has escaped back into the main tank area once when the box was not sitting high enough in the water.TLDR: mostly adequate box for separate feedings.

Works great for platy fry
I've used it for 3 pregnant platy fish now and it's worked great every time. I haven't had any babies squeeze out which is the main thing I was worried about. It's pretty easy to assemble. There's not a bunch of pieces to put together. Just the suction cups, the grated divider, the side divider for the top half, and the lid. It's a pretty decent size for the babies to hang out in temporarily, but it's not a permanent solution. I would definitely still recommend setting up a separate grow out tank for the fry to grow up in if you want to keep them.My only gripe is that the piece that divides the top and bottom sections is only secured when the top section side divider is put in. I feel bad keeping the momma in only one half of the top section when she's the only one giving birth. The first photo is a newly born batch of green lantern platies after I removed the momma and dividers. The second photo is a one month old platy.

Honest Review
Well, what can say? I have never had a fish breeding box before, but I really wanted to protect the babies. I have given five stars for suction power, value and easy assembly, but that is where the praise stops. I have a pregnant fancy guppy, so I placed her in the box. She escaped, even with her noticeable pregnant body. I put her back in, she escaped again. This continued until she escaped a fourth time. I started to wonder if the box would even hold teeny tiny babies. If felt not. I went to PetCo and was told that his kind of box is not secure, and he recommended a net type breeder box. I bought it and the pregnant fish has not found a way to escape, and most importantly, I feel that the babies will be safe. You would think that I would return to Amazon the plastic box, but out of frustration, I threw it away!

Good for bedding/isolation/incubation, but fry can escape!
This product would be perfect if the side slots didn't let fry squeeze out. I tried this to breed false julii corydoras and mystery snails. Both the fry and snail babies escaped. My angel also helped a few by sucking them out.Every other aspect is great. The suction held up well--a little too well as I had to unhook the box from the cups to pry them off the glass. I also let it freely float while I did water changes and it floated just fine. I had it near a sponge filter and some air bubbles would get into the box as I had hoped. The flow was enough to prevent mold on unfertilized eggs.If you just need to isolate a fish for a special diet, or give them a timeout, this is great. For breeding, it's also great. Eggs would fall through the trap door. But I recommend getting something different if you want to hatch eggs in it. Then you could transfer them back to this box after they've grown for a week or two.Another thing to be aware of is that the side slits go all the way to the bottom of the box. So when you pull it out of your tank, 0 water remains and you will need to be prepared to transfer your fish/eggs to some water immediately.
