A Home Office Necessity
This unit allows me to dock my ThinkPad T490 to a setup with two large-screen monitors to handle legal work from my home office during this "shelter at home" era. My only real complaint is the lack of documentation for exactly how it's supposed to work; trial and experimentation is the only way to find out.The laptop computer snaps into the receiving indentations on the dock, and then an assembly with various connectors on the left side is slid into the corresponding sockets on the left side of the computer. When engaged, the laptop is held in place pretty solidly. At that point, the connections on the back of the docking station become active. These include 5 USB A sockets, two DisplayPort (not HDMI) monitor connections, an RJ-45 Ethernet connection, a 1/8" audio connection, and a power socket for the included power supply.I have been using this for about a month now, and have had no issues with it. Because my ThinkPad has a solid state drive and runs cool, I tend to leave it on all the time, with the display set to go dark after 30 minutes of inactivity. I particularly like the support for two monitors. I am only working on documents, not playing video games or editing movies, so I don't know if there are any speed issues with the monitors, but for my kind of work everything works extremely well. And of course the real benefit, apart from having two monitors available, is having a "real" keyboard and mouse to use, rather than the laptop keyboard. It really does make this laptop as functional as a desktop computer. For those who earn their living working with documents on a computer, this is a real productivity enhancer.

The only thing more useful on the desk is the computer.
It's expensive and exceptionally useful. I bought it for myself not some company so I really had to weigh the convenience and price.I'm using my x1 carbon 7th generation on this station and it has made my daily rituals of bring the laptop so much easier. I pull it out of the bag, set it on the dock amd move the slider, its charging and connected to lan and the scanner and printer and back up hard drive and my dual monitor display immediately. Seriously just that easy. When the days over I just slide it to the left and pick up the laptop. It was worth it. Pricey.... yes its pricey but it is a permanent fixture with the factory support. Simple and modular. Easily fit in to my daily life. Nearly no set up because I take my computer home every day and I just plugged the dock in to all my devices instead of the computer. If you're on the fence I would recommend that you go ahead and buy it. Very well though out product and has decreased my set up time down to 2 seconds. Seriously it's that fast.

Works well
Bought this to dock my Lenovo X1 (6th generation) with 3 external drives, 2 monitors, a card reader, my speakers, and an external DVD player. They all work as expected and i have no issues when i disconnect and reconnect without shutting down the system. It is essentially on 24/7 but in sleep mode. A bit pricey but worth it in peace of mind.

Nice addition to my Lenovo T480
Somewhat expensive for the money though but functions flawlessly. One thing that did surprise me is that there is no HDMI port. In order to connect my particular monitor I had to purchase a separate adapter. Keep that in mind and add that item to your cart now if you need to.

glad i purchased this
it's working for me with T580 and the two port to HDMI adapters purchcased separately; I was frustrated at first because I couldn't figure out how to get it charged and working for awhile, but I found a video online to show me how to attach the laptop and then I figured it out and it's been working just fine

First one was absolute junk, but Lenovo support rocks.
UPDATE: Originally gave this one star. Fought issues on the original unit for almost a year and finally called Lenovo support expecting the runaround. After a short pleasant phone call that didn't involve trying things I've already tried to fix the issue, Lenovo sent a replacement OVERNIGHT! And it works flawlessly. So so happy now. Moral of the story ... if you do get one that has issues, don't hesitate to contact Lenovo support. Just wish I'd contacted them sooner. This is garbage. I work from home in the IT field. The external USBs on the docking station don't work, so my mouse and external keyboard intermittently cut in and out as I'm working. It's useless. Do a search on this, it's apparently a known problem with Lenovo laptops with this docking station. And since the T480 only has 1 USB port, I'm hosed. Hate this, want my old T440 and big clunky docking station back. It was slow but at least it worked.

Works great
No problems with setup, everything works great. Must use DVI cable for dual monitors. This unit only has 2 USB 3.0 ports

Poorly Designed
My first one of these came covered in some goopy glue. The seller quickly exchanged it and said they had some problems with an entire run of these. Unfortunately, the exchanged one has had problems from day 1. Despite being firmly seated and lined up with the pins the lock often doesn't engage. I found that if I rotate it after putting it on the pins the lock will fully engage. That doesn't mean that it works. My two monitors constantly have problems. They flicker on and off and have distortions and static when they are connected and on. I often have to unlock and reseat the laptop. Of course this disconnects all my drives, remote desktops, open documents etc and chaos ensues. If you enjoy spending your day closing and opening your work to reseat your laptop this is the docking station for you.

Great if you are running two extra monitors!!
Solved all my problems, Had two external monitors hooked up via HDMI and a USB to HDMI video adapter. My computer did not like this at all. (my last system loved it) was experiencing screen flickers and blackouts. Figured I'd give this docking station a try. Not only did it solve all my problems, My laptop is now plug and go. Don't have to mess with all the cable hookups. Love It.
