Watchable but lost it's edge.
I've been a fan of star wars since I first went to the pictures to see the earlier films as a child. They were something literally out of this world. I do agree with some of the critiques of this film but don't think it deserved to be totally slammed. It was decent enough to watch and I think after watching it I can see where Disney are getting us ready for a new series of films with the "out with the old in with the new" attitude...give us the characters we grew up with and throw in a new generation. Yes it's true these will never be a match for the originals but entertaining to a certain degree.Definitely trying.to attract a much younger audience but at a cost ...the dark side isn't so dark any more. ...There coukd never be another Darth Vader. When I think of how different the first series were compared with now it really is like night and day..a lot more grit and less Pc back in the day...unfortunately whenever Disney get their hands on some thing it's made into a fairy tale. Don't get me wrong we are household who love Disney but they should have left this alone..Star wars has lost its edge. Yes it's entertaining, watchable but also predictable and some scenes cringe worthy....

Exactly as ordered, played flawlessly.
Deliveed promptly, under Prime, well packaged, played perfectly on my ageing xbox360. Good film, good soundtrack, no issues. Well done Amazon.

Bad film but good special features
We all know how bad the film is and the 3d version of the film is not any better to me themost pointless character in the film is rose she gets to much screen time for such a small character there are better characters in the film and they hardly get any screen time in the film to much of it was focused on the rose character but the special features are quite good very enjoyable to watch the making of the film it goes into great detail and a in depth look at the deleted scenes some scenes that I think that should have been put in the film that would have been good are poe not much of a sewer the second one it’s kind of weird that you recorded that the third scene that was good was the caretaker village sequence and the forth one is the mega destroyer incursion extended version they are good scenes because they all have a bit of light hearted comedy about them and i find it ironic at the beginning of the special features about rian johnson that he is a newcomer and is not well known well he will be well know now people will not forget his name because he was the man to single handily ruin star wars and straight away on the special features rian johnson says the is a direct continuation from the last film that is stupid and a big mistake because no star wars film is directly continued on like this because the reason it should not be like that is for me personally i am just watching the same film with the exact same characters but just a different title this is the problem we don’t want to see the force awakens again we want something new and different and this is why the film has failed as a star wars film and rian johnson also in his own words on lukes character he says the attitude of luke throwing his lightsaber away works really well well this is what mark hamill has to say about that in his exact words well see again I mean i told rian this I fundamentally disagree with your concept of this character and how you use him now having said that I’ll do everything within my power to realise your vision because it’s not my character to decide if belongs to other people it’s rented out to me now this is a honest concern coming from mark hamill if it was for him and george lucas rian johnson would not have a character to work with so this is the ultimate betrayal of lukes character and mark hamill knows it but this film is only worth buying because mark hamill and carrie fisher are in it but to sum up the whole film if george lucas was still on hand as creative consultant on the star wars films this film would not be like this but whoever directs the next film will have to sort the mess out and put the star wars saga back in balance and if you are having trouble playing the blu ray in your blu ray player the blu ray discs are not defective i had the same problem but all you have to do is go into your blu ray player video settings and change the video output auto off because that will activate 24p mode

Happy to have the film in 3D- Excellent action sequences
First off, I am very happy that the 3D version of the film was still available in the UK. The US does not seem to have this available at all. And that's a shame. This movie's 3D did improve the overall look of the movie, particularly in the detailed and intricate action scened. I would have liked to see a few more "in front of the screen" effects, but I was pleased with the overall look.I am torn about this movie as a dramatic construction.[SPOILERS]The dramatic device of the chase through standard space was awkward. It might have made more sense if it were a prolonged chase from base to base or something else. Also, the various subplots don't dovetail neatly. It's two movies concatenated together and somehow the two don't blend well. The storyline following Finn and Rose was the weaker of the two although it was actually very interesting. in the overall plot fo the movie it could have been left out. Although, it produced one of my favorite scenes of the movie -- the final scene with the young stableboy committing himself to the Resistance and pulling his broom to his hand with the Force. But it was awkward. In contrast, the storyline following Rey, Luke, and Ben Solo was much stronger (although with its own flaws). I have heard that many fans were upset with Luke Skywalker's deus ex machina appearance. I had the opposite reaction. It was a masterstroke to cow and humble Ben Solo -- showing him how little control he really has of the Force and of himself. Also the throne room battle scene with Ben Solo and Rey was exciting and one of the best ever staged. It was worth the price of admission and the cost of the blu-ray disk all by itself. The last thing I'll say is this -- Carrie Fisher and Yoda had the best lines of dialogue. I'm not sure how Ms. Fisher can be replaced. Or if anyone should even try. I confess I teared up during her final scene with Mark Hamilton. I'll miss her next time around.
