Damaged Box
The item arrived as seen above in the picture which indicates it was damaged prior to bring shipped. It doesn't appear that there are missing pieces but I will have to take a closer look. I was hoping to keep the box for storage but can't due to its condition.

Useful, even if the magnets are a bit odd
This set comes with two things- animal themed upper AND lower case alphabet magnets, and phonic puzzles. The magnets are well made. They don’t feel like cheap cardboard glued to cheap magnets. They’re like a soft sturdy foam that’s been printed on. They aren’t as heavy as the flat Melissa and Doug magnets but they stick fine. These are just to put up, not to hold things up if that makes sense. The colors are printed well, no weird splotches or dots. The animals are heavily stylized to maintain the proper letter shape. If you are going to stylize either the animal or the letter I appreciate they chose the animal. Some look very looney tunes and are harder to identify. In general the animals that have a prop with them look less weird (The Koala and Monkey are holding a tree to make the ‘K’ and ‘M’ shape vs the Cow and Elephant. Some, like the Quail, are the whole animal and don’t look super weird. Lower case anything with alphabet is harder to find and I appreciate that this comes with both. I’ve always liked comparing upper and lower case letters like an adult vs a kiddo (several books do this, like the ‘little i who lost his dot’ and ‘chicka chicka boom boom’) and this set is easy to do that with. Sometimes the upper case is just a bigger lower case and sometimes its grown a beard, stretched out a leg and put on a hat or shoes. The letter puzzles come all put together but separate from their storage tubs. This is a space saving measure. Once you unstack the tubs, put the puzzle in each, and put the lid on they are never all going to fit back in the box it comes in. At least the puzzles are put together. I was almost expecting each puzzle to be the pieces loose in 26 individual plastic bags or worse all mixed up. It still takes some time to break down each puzzle and put it in the marked tub but it’s WAY better than how these sorts of things are normally packed. The puzzles themselves are great. Each is in the shape of the letter, with a different word beginning (or in the case of ‘X’ containing) that letter. The puzzles are double sided, with a ‘sounds like…’ and one example on one side and the other side having an example printed on each piece. This is great because you can demonstrate some of the different sounds a letter can make without that being the ONLY example in the set. ‘giraffe’ is a go to for the ‘g’ sound in these sorts of things but a TERRIBLE only example. This way both the soft and hard ‘g’ are presented, along with the short and long sounds for the vowels. This is classroom stuff and it’s wonderfully packaged for a letter of the day/week activity. I highly recommend.

Alphabet
Great idea for preK and K. The creators needed to pay more attention to the pictures representing the vowel sounds. Not all of the pictures chosen "said" either the long or short sound.

WOW, there’s so much to do here!
This is a hands on tool that will assist your young toddler or child in learning their ABC’s, what words or animals names begin with each letter of the alphabet, and working on their fine motor skills by putting puzzles together. The pieces of the puzzle are large enough to pick up for toddlers and young children and each letter puzzle has its own little tub for storage! There’s a sheet that shows how each letter puzzle is to go together for your independent child that wants to work alone, but needs a little help occasionally. Then there’s the 52 magnetic animal alphabet which can be used on the refrigerator or other metal surface. I say refrigerator, because I know some of my friends would like something for their young children to do near by while they are cooking or baking. This is a pretty cool box filled with all things alphabet and they are brightly colored, easy to pick up, hold and put together! This is great for home, pre school, or as a gift.

Fun toy to learn letters!
My son is becoming more interested in letters and wanting to learn the lower case letters. We ordered this for him to become familiar with the upper and lower case letter forms as well as starting to think of letters forming words! He loves these and finds it fun to open up each tub to work on the letters!
