Perfect starter kit
This box is a great starter kit for someone wanting to try some resin art. You get everything you need to create your first few projects. In the box you get two bottles of resin, it’s a two-part mix, bottle A and bottle B, It’s a 1/1 ratio which is the easiest to use, just mix equal parts together in volume. You also get several silicone moulds in various shapes, they are all quite big. You can create a sphere, cube and other shapes. You also get loads and loads of additives, a whole tray with different colours, glitters and crystals, and a tray with artificial flower heads in, You can set these in moulds upside down, so that when you turn them mould out, the flowers are showing at the top of the shape. You also get several pipettes, two mixing beakers with measurements on so that you can accurately measure out from bottle A and bottle B, making sure you get the same amount from each bottle, if you don’t, you can have issues getting the resin to set. There’s also gloves to protect your hands, try not to get resin on your skin. There’s also several stirring sticks for mixing the resin up. You also get an instruction booklet to help you get started.I think this is a really good starter set, my only negative is that I think it would’ve been better to include some smaller moulds. Having moulds so large can be a bit daunting, using a smaller mould can build your confidence. You could easily use this set to make some lovely unique presents to give people, and if you don’t want to add the flowers and the crystals, you can always add something that’s personal to you, maybe little keep sakes you have, or something that would make it personal for the recipient. If you bought this for someone, you could be opening up a whole new hobby for them, and for some people that can lead to a new business, resin is getting more popular and it really is fun to do.

Perfect, even for a beginner
I ordered this kit as I have been curious about using resin to create keyrings and jewellery for quite some time. Having read the precautions and advice I warmed the bottles up in a big bowl of warm water prior to starting. I decided to do the actual crafting on a silicon mat on the cooker hob, with the extractor fan switched on full to help with ventilation, which worked very well.It was thankfully easy to mix as its a 1:1 mixture of the hardener and the resin I had also ordered some simple keyring moulds to start practicing with, and I've added dried flowers which I purchased seperately along with some special tweezers, these were not expensive, and seem to be readily available. With the kit I got the two bottles (resin and hardener), you also get 10 plastic measuring jugs and 4 of the bigger plastic cups, along with 5 different coloured powders to mix into it (the gold one is amazing), you also get 4 wooden stirrers to mix it with, I believe you are supposed to get 4 sets of gloves, but they were missing from this pack, although I was advised by an experienced resin crafter that you can use washing up type gloves safely, so it wasnt an issue.Overall I would say as a resin kit for a complete beginner you will most likely need to purchase some moulds, it was easier than I'd imagined, but you still need to take care to keep yourself safe, the fact that it is a simple 1:1 mixture helped. I did really enjoy using it, and my first "creations" look acceptable, although they are still curing. I still have plenty of the liquids left though, so I will be able to hopefully improve with more practice, and I'm very happy to recommend the kit.

My first time with resin
Never used resin before. Hubby has used the two part epoxy stuff to fix things around the house before, but I've never really paid much attention to it. Recently got into some crazy stuff that's related to this so I thought I'd give it ago.Turns out it's actually really simple to use. The manual is simple and straight forward to follow and clearly explains how to use it and any pitfalls you may encounter and why.Following it, we made a 100ml mix, 50ml of each with a very small amount of the colour powder. It was like a pea size off the handle end of a spoon. It was more than enough. Mixed into the plastic cup with the wooden spoon. We placed the plastic cup in a bowl of hotwater for 5 minutes and you could see the bubbles from the mix coming to the top and popping. It was then poured slowly into a silicone dish. Using a craft art flower as an embedded item. It was left to set over night.About 12hours later it was hard, it could be removed but clearly too soft to handle. A full 24huors later and the thing is hard but has a slight flex to it. 48hours later and it's rock hard. No give at all.The finished product is as clear as when we originally mixed it. A sand down and buff brings it up to perfectly clear, glass like. No bubbles in it.It can get quite messy and will stick once dried. Use parchment paper, silicone mats etc so it's easy to remove. A very enjoyable process, worth giving it a go for a few hours for the experience of it. It didn't come with any silicone moulds though, so this is something you'll need to get, but there are loads of silicone moulds for resin. For our first attempt though, it's amazing. A testament to the product and it's instructions.
