Kid friendly and with lots of information
We tap the trees near our home and thought this book would be a great explanation for our daughters. The illustrations were great and the book was very kid friendly, but at the same time provided great information about how maple syrup is made. I’m a teacher and would not hesitate to use this with my students.

Good book for 4 and up
We were going to use the book for a maple syrup demonstration at Sunday school until everything was shut down. It is a good book for older preschoolers and early elementary school kids. It gives a few more details about sugaring and shows the use of a refractometer. the illustrations are great and the explanations are such that a young child would understand.

Great, readable explanation of syrup process
I used this book as part of my first grade science. This book was very approachable for students to connect with. It was perfect for helping students see the spring part of the cycle of maple trees (and the process of syrup making). They were able to identify similarities and differences between the maple tree and other deciduous trees and see how changes in the seasons from winter to spring cause the sap to run and how we harvest it.

Fun, informative book!
So informative but fun! Our kids studied a short unit on maple trees and this was a wonderful read-aloud addition!

Accurate and Fun- Great Addition for Family Bookshelves
In Maple Syrup from the Sugarhouse by Laura Lazarro Knowlton, readers can walk through the process of making maple syrup with friends and family. I appreciate Knowlton’s accuracy. The work of tapping, gathering, and boiling done by multigenerational family groups is another positive feature This would be a great book to share just prior to visiting a sugarhouse or after. From start to finish, families with young readers will enjoy this book.
