Ordered two of these 8-packs due to their low price. They're about a third the size/weight of the clamps I normally use. I used them on 3/8 wire rope which is what they were allegedly designed for. I normally torque to 30-35 foot-pounds on 3/8" wire rope. The attached pictures show what happened when I got the torque just over 25 lbs on the first two clamps. One saddle shattered into three pieces (I couldn't find the third piece) and one side of a u-bolt broke. I torque both nuts approx a half turn at a time and then switch to the other side so I did not over-tighten one side over the other. As I torqued these clamps I could actually feel the heat radiating through the socket attached to my torque wrench, that tells me they were weakening. If you look closely at the threads on the u-bolt you can see that they're deforming. Put under significant stress they could strip or break. Going extremely slow, I finally got six of the clamps to hold at approx 25 foot-pounds. I'll hold on to these as emergency replacements for my regular clamps but I wouldn't even think about trusting them to hold while trying to control the fall direction of a large tree that was anywhere near something that could be damaged. I took down a couple of 80-90 foot pines over the weekend and I can usually drop a tree exactly where I want it but use cables for safety purposes and to redirect the fall of a tree that's leaning the wrong way. If I use these it will only be for light duty type work. Actually I'll probably just be safe and throw 'em out after getting some decent replacements.

I was planning on using these for a dog time out. A little big, but they still work.

I used three of the BRUFER Wire Rope Clamps to secure the free end (with thimble and 3/8" hook) of a 3/8" winch (extension) cable I purchased at Harbor Freight for use with a Viper 12K winch purchased on Amazon. I have been using this combo to ensure the 12"-30" pine trees I "drop" on our property fall where I want them, and at times the strain being put on these clamps is sufficient to slide my 7800 lb Titan truck across the ground, so they CERTAINLY work as they should. They aren't sexy - they just WORK.

Make sure you order the appropriate Clamps for your need these are light duty.

These things work great and tighten up nicely and hold. Great item for wire rope.

We used the cable to make a zip line for our grandchildren/great grandchildren. It was perfect.
