Simple idea to help young kids improve their dexterity. Interesting with bright colours. Plays nice music and sounds and animal noises are decent. Seems good value to me but it does take three batteries.

I bought this for my grandson for his first Christmas present, he will love banging the animals, and his big brother can help him. Supervision is recommended.

The pop-up toy arrived nicely packaged and presented. It didn't include any batteries, which is fine by me, as I tend to prefer using my own decent quality ones. It can be used perfectly fine without batteries too; however, the 2 selectable noise types do offer extra entertainment triggered by a pop-up event and tunes in between playing with it.The unit I received has a problem on the number 4 pop up, in that if pressed down, it doesn't easily stay down like the others, and I needed to press it really hard or bash it for it to stay closed. Something a toddler wouldn't be able to do on this one. The other minor point I found, is that with our granddaughter hasn't grasped the concept of 'watch your fingers' just yet, and while pressing down, her fingers sometimes were under the top shell, causing them to pinch her skin or fingers while she pressed down. What this means for us, is that for now, we would have to only let her use it with close adult supervision until she is at an age she knows how to use it better without potentially hurting herself.Overall, it's not a bad toy and does have entertainment value to it, but just not alone. It's 3.5/5 for me due to the minor fault and risk of pinching.

It’s a brightly coloured pop-up game that has 5 buttons/knobs, and 5 eggs – each of which conceals a cute little animal – a hippo, a red panda (or raccoon), lion, elephant, and fox. The game is simple, just press, push or turn a button, the eggshell cracks open and up pops the little animal. The game can be played either with or without batteries installed (required 3AAs – not included). Without batteries, pressing the buttons will make the animals pop up, but there will be no sound or light effects. With the batteries installed, there are 2 modes – the first has a sound effect and light when a button is pressed, and the second has sound effects, lights + music (which plays continuously with no volume control). The eggs are numbered 1 to 5, and each number is a different colour that matches the colour of both the animal inside and the button that controls it. The buttons are fairly easy to press, however, even if a child can’t manage that, they can still press down on the shells to close them. The price at the time of ordering was £22.99, and there is currently a voucher available for a 20% - with the discount, the price is more reasonable.
