Racks NV 2.0 Bike Rack

I've had this rack for about 5 years now. It was definitely one of the priciest racks at the time but it has lived up to its value proposition very well. It is solid and rugged: perfect for heavier ebikes. Easy to mount/dismount your bike: Rack arm in position and strap the rear wheel - done! I love the built-in cable locks (though I use a separate lock as well). The flip up storage and tilt-down modes works great with my van that has a large swing up door allowing rear hatch access with the bikes still mounted. Overall, a very functional, well-designed, rugged - and dare I say, a work of art!

Very solid, better than expected, very well made. I purchased this with the swing out (drivers side). The combo doesn't move at all or rattle when driving, no noise, and no worrying if the bikes are moving around because of play at the receiver. I picked the drivers side swing to completely get bikes out of the way of my bronco tailgate and tire. I do think, after installing the set up, that either drivers side or passenger side would work on a bronco with no interference.

I switched to this product after 5 years of using 4 bike hanging rack from Yakima, which is amazing product by itself as long as it is used for max 3 bikes. As our family started to bike more, I had to carry 4 bikes and Yakima just was not able to carry 4 bikes no matter how much I tried. 3 was the max and that was painful (literally) too. I spent min 10 minutes of stressful loading the bikes and never had really good safe feeling about longer trips. My Advice - If you want to carry 4 bikes - do not look at the hanging racks. They always handle n-1 bikes max. Platform racks are the way to go. The first thing, which I have to say - Kuat is heavy. Not because of the weight, 65 pounds is not that much, but the shape makes it feel heavy and you have to use some strength to load it onto car. Once it is hitched, the problem stops and you will start to understand why you paid 1000 bucks for something. The loading of the bikes takes no time, the system feels sturdy and safe. I have no movement from the rack during driving at all - the key seems to be, while securing the hitch, you have to lift it up while turning the knob. The black looks really great on my 4Runner and the combination with the opening rear window on the 4Runner is making this product even more easy to use - I never needed to tilt it so far. Be aware, that you need 20''-24'' wheel adapter for the bikes of that size. Kuat sends them for free on request. Would expect it to be mentioned when you actually buy the product but no problem.

This thing is solid! It takes a bit to assemble it, might be easier with a couple of people. Solo, it took me about 1.5 hours to assemble with only minimal cursing (difficult to line to line up some of the parts and keep them properly aligned while tightening by yourself). Once assembled, these things are hefty too. But once installed they are rock solid - no movement or sway or anything. Adding the two-bike add-on is really straightforward and simple as well. Definitely adds some distance behind your vehicle though (about 4'). The tightening mechanism for the rack to the hitch is solid though, there's seriously no movement whatsoever. The rack then goes up to maintain clearance. The individual locks for each bike are also sweet - doesn't allow to include the wheels, but locks the frame down through the rear triangle. One note: i thought by ordering both together all of them locks would be keyed the same, that was NOT the case. The base two locks and the hitch lock are the same, but the two locks for the add-on were difference. However, Kuat is AMAZING, they're customer service is awesome (this is my second Kuat rack and they're serious about lifetime warranty), so i just called them and they sent me a couple new lock cores so they'd all match. It took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to switch out the lock cores. All in all, an awesome rack, excited to use this for the next 11+ years (that's how long i used my last one, which is still in great condition and which i sold).
