Crewel Creatures: Fresh ideas for Jacobean embroidery

Hazel Blomkamp has excelled herself, this book is a triumph. Not only crewel techniques but also some lovely beading embellishments too. I thoroughly recommend this book to serious embroiderers, you won't be disappointed.One gripe I have is that I pre-ordered this book. The current price is much less. Even with a "refund" of less than £2.00 I am still out of pocket by about £3.00 - don't pre-order!!!! This is down to Amazon, not the author. Not impressed with Amazon on this occasion.Another warning I would give is to not order kits from blomkamp, particularly if you live in the EU. You will be hit with enormous customs charges. On a recent purchase I have been quoted that I have to pay almost £100.00 on an order that is valued at £150.00, so be prepared to pay almost double. Blomkamp obviously doesn't mention this on her website, and beware that she uses a courier service that has a bad reputation worldwide. I won't be ordering from her again, and this has left me with an unpleasant experience that is going to be difficult to work through.

If the title hadn't been crewel I would have bought months ago. The book covers beading and embroidery along with alot more techniques , crewel to me is heavy wool yarn embroidery ie used on footstools in 70's . This book is absolutely stuffed full of well laid out techniques , maybe bit heavy for beginner but perfect support for textile art embellishment techniques for adding detail. Highly recommend.

I love this book, the patterns are so different, you will need to have some experience to do one of these, I am still a novice but inspired to have a go with on of these, working on easier projects in between, great buy, recommend

This is another lovely book from Hazel Blomkamp. She gives careful detailed instructions for all stitches used, and the designs in the new book have some humour about them.Of course I want to do the owl!!

Gorgeous book, well illustrated and very good explanation for those not used to crewel work.
