Mastermind

The media could not be loaded.  I didn’t buy on Amazon, and got one from Hamleys, same Hasbro but English version. From all other reviews here, believe apart from the box, everything is the same. The only reason there’re still 2 stars, just because we still love to play this game. Otherwise it’d be 1 star.At this price, we should expect a more properly built quality. However every bit feels cheap. Cheap game board, cheap pegs, shaking flimsy scoring bars both side, and way too easily rotate code-setting unit.The design of code-setting unit is also not making sense.1. It’s easily moved as others said, but it moves in an extend that even when we move the whole unit, or rotate the entire unit to reveal answers, it’d also change colour by itself, watch the video. If there’s any silicone gasket inside it’d already be way better.2. The code-setting unit is separate from the main game board as others mentioned, so making it more burden to travel.3. To reveal the answer, if the code maker turn the unit horizontally on a table top, it’s in opposite order. If turning by rotating upward, it’s risking the code changing by itself, not even able to consider passing the code-setting unit to others. It’d be better using the same old method to set codes.The rotating platform and the wheel underneath the game board is completely not necessary. It’s too bulky to travel. Without the round base stand, the game board itself cannot lie flat on table. Just a simple flat plastic game board sliding on any table is more practical, especially for travel purpose.If these rotating mechanism and the horrible code setting unit can be eliminated and migrate the cost in better build, it’d way worth this price.As other said, the red and rose pegs are too difficult to differentiate. They’re nearly the same in indoor light, no matter ceiling light or window light under a shade. This game set keeps me questioning myself if I have any vision impairment…The whole unit, if assembled together, can stay in a box half to 1/3 the size of current box. If you’re seriously environmentally concerning to a point, you might want to consider this. Anyway as a travel size version, it should just be a game board with pegs encased inside and ready to go, but this one is way too redundant in plastic consumption without any thoughtful reason.Overall, it’s very disappointing as I always try to support the intellectual property owners and don’t mind paying more. But this time I’d suggest buying other copycat on Amazon at a fraction of price if you need a travelling size mastermind. A lot of them are just half the size of this game board too and more handy to travel. You won’t lose any quality. (Remember to check the amount in colours of colour pegs) A lot of problems you may find in copycat sets, you’d find them in this set too.

Mio figlio di 9 anni ha apprezzato moltissimo il regalo. Le istruzioni sono in tedesco ma basta collegarsi ad internet per capire le regole de gioco! Bel gioco di logica... lo adoro anch’io!

Ich kann die negativen Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen. Ich kenne auch die alte Version von Parker. Die neue Version ist meiner Meinung nach qualitativ völlig in Ordnung. Ja, das Teil wo man den Farbcode einstellt kann sich relativ leicht verstellen. Aber man kann es auch einfach ruhig auf dem Tisch stehen lassen, dann passiert gar nichts. Ansonsten ist das Spiel einwandfrei. Wir haben nun die alte 70 er Jahre Version und die neue Zuhause. Der Nachwuchs spielt lieber mit der neuen Version. Ich finde sowohl die alte als auch die neue Version gleichwertig in Ordnung. Das Spiel selbst ist ein Klassiker und macht damals wie heute Spaß!!!!
