So worth it!
Ignore the reviews and buy this! I bought it despite the reviews because it was discounted to a price that was hard to pass up. I warned my husband when it came that reviews warned it takes eons to set up, but that was his problem and not mine. Yes, it did take forever. We set it up with my husband's phone and just let it sit on the counter until it was done its thing. I didn't time it, but I feel like it took 40 mins. Regardless...it works great and my son is discovering that he has force link toys he received 2 years ago that now talk for him! We had no idea and this gadget is bringing life to old toys again. So ignore the reviews. Buy the toy. Take the time to set it up. Watch your kid enjoy. :)

Stay away. Requires smartphone. Big waste
Warning: you must buy this before June 2019, and then the app isn’t going to be supported anymore. And that is if the thing works after the idiotic and super long setup. You buy the thing, and it wasn’t advertised well that you need a smartphone or tablet, etc. to use it. It will only work out of the boxwith the Han figure that comes with it. If you try to use it on anything else it says “firmware update required.” So you then go download the app. Then you pair it with the app. That takes like an hour. It started and restarted several times. I literally used the first set of AAA batteries just pairing it with an iPad. I changed the batteries and it worked with a few other figures for about 15 minutes before it died. Not the 2nd batteries, whatever runs the thing. I deleted and redownloaded the app on my phone, iPad, and a second iPhone. It wouldn’t make any “action sounds” just the on and off sound. This review is long, but way shorter the the hours I wasted trying to get this thing working, and then trying to get it working again after a brief period of working, and then consoling a crying kid who got this piece of junk because they wanted it for their birthday, plus several vehicles and figures that have forcelink 2.0. Who at hasbro came up with this junk and who approved it. TOTAL RIPOFF!!!

Firmware update is tricky but not difficult
After seeing so many horrific complaints about the updating process, I also encountered the same issue but I found the update must be done right as the instruction already stated it could take over an hour depending on your connection speed and updating device. When doing the update, make sure:1. put the unit on a flat, leveled surface when your smart device (phone, tablet) prompted to "TAP" the unit. If it is not leveled, it will NOT respond to your tapping. There is a gyro sensor in it.2. if your phone or tablet ask to pair the unit via Bluetooth manually, do it first.3. if using a phone to update, any text, call, and notification WILL disrupt the process.4. do not move around the unit during process and monitor the process when possible. It took me 45 minutes to complete the updating process. The instructions is pretty thorough. It's a cool toy .

Can update but plan on it being an hr long update.
I read others reviews that they couldn’t update them. I used an iPhone X and was able to update the force link pretty easily. But did take 45-50 mins to do so.. it slowly updates, there’s lots of tapping the darn thing, and you have to tap just right or you’ll be tapping for 5 mins. It’s definitely not the easiest thing to update but it’s possible. May the force be with you all during this update!

Force link update
The trick for the update to be done successfully is to tap the force link gauntlet twice exactly as directed. You tap in synchronization as the animated finger is taping the gauntlet, not when it says wait 1, 2. The update maybe drop connection during the process but just reconnect and it will pick up from where it last left off.

Figure is amazing, but the device is...
The Figure was really nice, there was nothing wrong with it. The Force Link device though, was awful. Took 56 min to update/set-up and barely works. I have two force link figures, and although they were far apart, the F.L kept registering the far away figure. The Han Solo action figure is 5 stars, but the force link is 0.

Kid loves it
We had the old one, bit when we got it, we didn't realize there was a 2.0 and the toys we had were 2.0 compatible only. With this one he can get any of the figures we find in discount bins or thrift stores, and they all work. I think the best

A decent toy only
Decent product. Expensive for what it is. Seller was good. Although had to order twice because Amazon lost my shipment. The tech is very frustrating with this toy. Lots to try and update ( firm ware ) and it is hard and takes time to do.

No lo recomiendo
Todo el tiempo dice que necesita “update” y literal hay mejores juguetes. Mi sobrino lo uso poco y lo boto.
