Easy Read
Easy read and has great lists. This would be a great starter book before reading Private Practice Essentials. It is simple and still gives a few key points that are further built upon in other books.

Indispensable.
As a recent graduate, this book alone has saved me 80+ hours of practical research to get my practice up and running. It’s indispensable, especially for clinicians who are not necessarily business minded. I cant recommend it highgly enough to therapists who are just starting out and didn’t not get enough how-to-business info in their degree program. The templates are pretty good and give food for thought while designing disclosure statements, treatment plans, etc... Couldn’t be more pleased!

Good, brief, helpful
I think this is a great starter book to open ones eyes to the many aspects of opening a practice, but not the only resource one needs. The templates the author includes are worth the price I paid for the book, for I did not know I would receive the templates. Thank you for the awesome introduction into starting my own practice. I will now start looking for a book that will help more with the maintaining and building of my future practice.

Wish they taught this in Grad school
Perfect primer for starting your own counseling practice! There are other books on practice development, but they mainly focus on envisioning and attracting a certain type of client. Whereas this book had the a-z details of exactly what I needed to know to start a business and take action. I also like the lists and definitely appreciate the time-saving forms. I would highly recommend this book if you're in the beginning stages of your counseling practice (or thinking about starting your own practice).

I really enjoyed this book
I really enjoyed this book. It reads like a conversation you may have with a colleague who is giving advice based on their experiance. The information does not go into great depth but does help you to get your bearings on starting a private practice.I've updated this review a year after opening my practice and still see this book as one of the two yhat helped me most.

A gold mine of information
It is such a common deficit in the training of professionals that they are taught everything about their profession and next to nothing about running a business. Yet the two must go hand-in-hand for a successful career. This little gem proposes to fill that deficit with detailed, nitty gritty how-to information presented in an informal, easy to read format. I can't imagine starting out as a therapist without this handbook to guide me.
