Great collection
This is a very nice collection of Norse mythology. Drawing primarily from the Eddas, this is a more historical collection. As such, it's probably best for those who have at least a little familiarity with the lore and are looking for a deeper understanding. That being said, there are plenty of explanations for someone new to Norse myths. Overall, this is a great addition to any mythology collection.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A good collection of historic writings, but not an “easy read”
This book brings together the most important writings on Norse Mythology in a handy format. It’s a long book, made for people with a large enough interest in the topic to read the historical, “original” and most well known sources on the topic. The first chapter dives into the history and previous translations of these writings, the meaning of the word “Edda”, and is a good background and introduction to the topic of writings on Norse mythology. Be aware that this is a long read, and it is partly written using academic language in addition to the historic writings of old prose. While it advertises itself as an easily accessible read, I find it to be a better read for people who already have some familiarity with reading prose and historic sources.

No steady flow
I've been want to get a copy of the poetic and prose eddas for a while. While this book does have all the stories within, it also has all the annotations and references mixed in with it, after each verse. This, unfortunately, makes it quite difficult to read and is very off putting.
