very quality tool, i love how solid and sturdy it is. made out of very good materials. once you get it dialed into the size of wire you are stripping, you set it and forget it. it will strip wire faster than you can feed it. after about 30 hours of using it, i have had 0 issues and the blade seems as sharp as when i first got it. if you follow the instructions, and set the blade depth so it is only cutting the jacket and not biting into the copper, you will not have any problems with the blade. i was going to spend the extra money and buy a tool with electric motor on it, but im glad i didnt. i couldnt be more happier with this one. majority of what i strip is 12 and 10 gauge solid core electric wire. i have went as small as 16 gauge solid core, no problems.

The manual definitely says "up to 300 kcmil" however if you remove the bottom plate with a 5/16" hex key, the orange feeder slides right out and it will rip through 600s no problem without marring the strands or making sharp edges. This thing is rock solid. It's also a one man, one hand operation when your wire isn't kinked. Some models will bind on electrical tape, not this one. It chews through the tape and just keeps going. "Designed in sunny Gainesville, FL" is also a nice touch. Even if i break it, I will most certainly buy this one again. It pays for itself.

Etched into the base, it clearly says to read the manual before operating, but it didn't come with a manual. That little hiccup aside, it took a little getting used to, but I think I figured it out. I started by feeding the wire through the orange plate but tried it the other way, and it worked much better. I found that the trick is putting on gloves and holding the wire as it is being fed. Holding it down and keeping it centered results in a clean cut of the wire casing. 18 gauge wire is the absolute smallest it will take because it can slide out from under the cutter, but if you get it most of the way, you can probably just pull the rest of it apart by hand.

Amazing gadget. If you’re into scrapping copper wire it’s a game changer. Absolutely excels at stripping single strands of wire. It does though have some limitations when it comes to removing the outer jacket . If the romax is twisted or bent in any way that needs to be straightened out . Does not have a slot for modern pink 10/3 so that outer jacket will need to be stripped by hand.Also has a difficult time with old school round 10/3 wire which has a spiral nature and gives the device trouble keeping contact with the drive rollers and cutter. No amount of engineering could ever resolve this issue so I give it five stars.

Don’t expect a user manual to come with it, all that was in box was device and a sticker. But the thing works great. Extremely well built and sturdy. Cuts so well it will slice your copper if you tighten it down too far (so don’t do that). Extremely fast and practical. Great investment for an electrician.

Great product, wish I’d brought it sooner. Looks nearly to good to use nice anodised finish everything is very thick and well made. Have used on thick core 10mm down to small house hold wire and eats wire as quickly as your drill can spin it, easy to adjust can buy replacement blades couldn’t be happier, and a great price.
