Works better than I had expected. When the word "Static" is used, I had the idea that it uses a charge like "static electricity," like when you walk across a carpet and get a static electricity shock when you touch something. The shock from this device is much stronger than that. A pet will not soon forget the shock from this device. It's more like the shock you get when you touch an electric fence on a farm that's used to keep the livestock away from the fence. The battery life is better than I thought it would be, they are the same type as used in smoke alarms, and last for a long time, maybe weeks at least it would seem, and there are re-chargeable batteries available, which the seller recommends, that I have found to be very good, charge fast and long lasting.I have neighbor cats that come onto my patio late at night because they sense the smell of birds that use my bird baths and feeder during the day. And as we know, cats like to mark their territory with urine, which I do not care for. I don't mind if they just want to hang out and harmlessly lounge about, but they come around late at night and are an annoyance, in addition to urinating, they trip my security camera in the wee hours, and I get woken up by an alert.I had been spraying the path to the patio with Vinegar or Ammonia to keep the cats away, but it takes time and the smell is annoying to not only the cats. I'm sure this device will be much more effective in training the cats to stay away. I only use it at night since I don't want the birds to get shocked. It's rated as an indoor item, but works well outdoors if only at night, as long as it's not raining.Overall, it seems to work well, my security camera caught a cat walking onto it, and I was pleased to see that it didn't harm the cat, which seemed to be intrigued with the mat, but not intrigued enough to come back for more after it encountered the electric charge being applied to its feet.

Bought this to keep two large dogs who shed a lot off of my couch. I only need it for when they are left home alone at times. I tried a slip on cover, but it was a pain to put on and just didn't do a great job, plus they ended up on the couch shedding all over the cover. I have had this for a few months now, since using this and them getting zapped a time or two, they don't go near it or on the couch any longer. The shock is fairly mild but effective(yes I tried it myself), battery life has been great (Using the Amazon 9V Batteries). Would not hesitate to buy another one of these if needed.

First of all, I love these mats - they’re very effective. This is the second one I’ve bought. At first this second mat only worked sometimes. But after the return window closed, it stopped working altogether. The lights flash, but it defaults to the red flashing lights, which means “off.” They’re so pricey that it’s doubly disappointing.

The product over all is what it says it is. However when my wife turned them off they could never be turned on again. Honestly if I get another one I would just probably remove the battery instead and avoid using the button to turn it off. Up until that point with Both of the pads I had they worked great. They give 2 warning tones followed by a shock if setup properly with tone and shock. The warning tones did not do much the first time. But the 2nd time the cats got on the pad they heard the tones and left before the shock could occur. I think we are still within the return period for the pads we have. Not sure if I will try another companies to see if they unit works better. But we were happy until we cant turn them back on. Battery life was not an issue during the month we had them. The battery was still good.

Our cat had some medical issues and at the end of it the cat was of the belief he was allowed to take a whiz in a corner of the room on an area rug. He kept going to that same place over and over. We tried to tell him to quit but that didn’t help. We used a water spritz, but that only stops him from doing things when we are around. I was facing a conundrum, and I don’t have a Ph.D in feline behavior. Maybe he was trying to tell me something, not sure. But I definitely was trying to tell him something, and he wasn’t listening.I was stuck. But then I remembered my childhood and all the different ways we were able to use electricity to discipline the dog and it worked well. Electricity! That was the answer. So I put this mat right in the spot the whizzed like 20 times or more.It worked great. At first he seemed to think it was a fluke. He must have gone there like 4 times and each time he got fried* and seemed baffled and would kinda stay away from the area and anywhere nearby. Now he has completely quit doing it (took a few weeks). He seems convinced that whizzing there results in a shocking experience whether humans are around or not. We removed the shock mat and he still doesn’t whiz there. Amazing.So, if you have also learned that electricity is the answer to all your problems, get this mat. Your cat or dog will be happy you are investing in their future. They’ll be shocked at the quick and drastic improvements.*shocked; “fried” is hyperbole. No one and no animal got injured. The shock hurts very briefly but it’s strong and your pet definitely will not ignore it

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SHOCK MAT. Cannot stress just how great this thing is. My cats no longer paw at the door at night and I can finally get a bit of shut-eye. THANK YOUU SHOCK MAT JESUS!!!

Doesn't hurt the cat, and after 2 nights it's in "beep" mode only. But he learned his lesson and doesn't tap and scratch at the door all night now so we can sleep. Worked very well for our purpose. We bought a rechargable 9v battery from amazon at the same time, so no worries on battery life for us.

Works very well. We need to keep two cats separated as one has FIV. This mat worked first time...even for the most persistent Siamese cat. He's been shocked twice, I guess he had to check a second time to see if he could get past ... he's never tried again. He sits about a foot away and just looks around. Perfect for us.

Purchased in September and by November has stopped working right. We usually only put the mat on the counter at night ( when our cat likes to go take a counter tour). It has now started going off on its own and not stopping in the middle of the night. Changed the battery twice and it is still randomly going off. Not a fun way to wake up in the middle of the night. So not impressed. The Matt idea is great. This brand is not. Do not buy this one. Waste of your money.

Desde la primera vez que mi gato lo miró lo salto, en un descuido que si llego a pisar realmente no le paso nada porque el tapete tardo en reaccionar y eso mi gato lo entendió muy bien, así que hace lo que quiere de forma rápida para irse sin problema. Otro detalle importante es que no cuenta con un botón de encendido y apagado, así que para apagarlo es necesario remover la pila y se debe de hacer con cuidado para no jalar los cables.

Keeps my dog off the couch

When this product arrived, the box appeared to be damaged.We got this product because our cat hasn’t stopped peeing on the couch (we’ve tried tin foil, adding a cat tree in his room etc.). I tested it out with my hand, and the mat has a good shock to it (tolerable though).
