The measurements are spot on - which is great for me because I needed a shelf that was just under 14 inches. It took about 30 minutes to assemble by myself without tools, and once I figured out what I was doing wrong it was a snap.***This is a very important tip that is not explicitly stated in the instructions, so pay attention!***1. The clips are not meant to fully snap closed, there will be a small gap and that's normal.2. Pay attention to the ^top arrows - the orientation matters!3. To clip them in place, line the top of the clip up just underneath one of the lines on the bars, press the sides together and then slide down until you hear a click.4. Install the shelves with the overhang portion face down - this orientation also matters!One of the ends of the tubes that holds the shelves to the post is lightly wider and it will slip over the clips and hold them closed.

I really like this wire shelving and ended up buying two for my kitchen. My husband is usually hard to impress, but he admitted that it's a good product.
