A Twisted tale of Beauty and the Beast.
A solid 4.5 stars. Excellent story... so emotive, dark and painful in its depravity and yet so beautiful, bright and enlightening.I liken it to Beauty and the Beast because in many ways, it is but there’s more to it than the fairytale. The characters are so enigmatic and alluring that you can’t help but be pulled into them. Even the subsidiary ones are given a purpose that all becomes clear. This story is centred around Russian beauty, Lena Seagull. She has been raised in the depths of a Russian poverty in a house full of siblings that are controlled and ruled over by a callous and terrifying father. When he is around they live in silence and abject fear. To defy him is to dishonour him and his form of punishment is for them to witness him torture and abuse their mother. It is his way of exerting his ultimate power.Unlike her seven sisters and twin brother, Lena was spirited, loving and caring. With this brought a defiance that she knew would lead to punishment but she refused to sit back and accept what her father did. She despised him, but her hatred grew when her eldest sister turned 16. One day she was there, then she was gone. Sold. Never to be seen again. One by one as her sisters came of age, they were sent away.Upon her mother’s untimely death, her fathers darkness deepened. Taking her twin brother to his bed he continued his vile transactions until one day it was just her father, Lena and her twin brother Nikolai left. As she turned 18, the two men came to collect as they had all her sisters before her. Vowing to return to save Nikolai she is taken from the tiny cabin into a life she had no understanding of.Lena is then taken to a woman where she is stripped, caged, starved and abused in return for food and her life. Made to perform sexual acts to gratify her keeper she learns of new depths to which she never thought she could sink until one day she is drugged and transported away. When she comes to, she is in a completely new world. Lena is then primped, primed and prepared. Questioning as to why they are photographing her, she is then told that they are for the auction. She is to be sold to the highest bidder.Guy Hawke is lonely, damaged and desperate man. Disfigured by an accident he lives in a gloomy castle Miles from anywhere. He joined the dark web auctions some months ago, but no girl had ever inspired him to show an interest... that is until Lena’s picture lands on his desk. Suddenly her photographs speak to him like no other had before. He knew that these girls usually had terrible lives from which they were trying to escape... but there was an innocence, a purity and a sadness that shone from behind her vacant eyes. She was the one... the one he had been waiting for. From the moment Lena enters the castle there is a sense of eerie foreboding. Dilapidated and unloved, the castle felt as lost and empty as she did. In her first night she encounters a young woman in her room, she can tell she’s not real... almost ethereal. The castle has many ghosts and legends. All of them calling out to Lena. Maybe she was supposed to be there. Like some divine fate. But, She knows what her role was to be. She had been bought by a billionaire. No longer a prisoner, she had the freedom to roam and explore but at 9.45pm each night she was to be his to do with as he wished. At first their arrangement is strained and difficult but even though she is blindfolded she can sense that he is a man of much sensuality. As they learn to trust each other and discover each other their feelings build. She tells him of the life she escaped and the love for her twin brother. All she asks of Guy is for his help to save her brother, Nikolai. That is all that has ever mattered to her.Everything appears to be going well.. they are getting closer and preparing for Christmas but whilst looking for some decorations she finds a horrifying secret. When Guy enters the room the secret is revealed as is his disfigurement. Convinced of her repulsion, rather than face her rejection, Guy instructs Misty to send her away.Finding herself alone and on a train to London, Lena feels lost and heartbroken. He didn’t even give her a chance to tell him that she loved him. Will she find her way back to him? Will he forgive her for discovering his secret? Will she ever know if he loved her as much as she loved him? What happens next?I can’t say anymore because I don’t want to spoil it... but all I can say is... WOW!! This book is just awesome. The twists, the turns, the realisations. Just fabulous. Couldn’t put it down. Thanks for another great romance story to fill the heart and soul, Georgia. Onto Jack and Sophia’s story. Feel like I’ve come full circle from the Billionaire Banker series to here. Love how you manage to interlink your stories. Makes it all feel like a big picture and a real world that exists out there somewhere.

LOVED IT!!
Wow this was one book I had difficulty putting down. I have always loved the Beauty and the Beast concept in books so when I saw this book it was a must read for me. I was by no means disappointed it was a bit darker than I was expecting but this actually enhanced the visceral emotions that Georgia Le Carre evoked in me. I was buzzing both physically and mentally reading this book. When a book has you torn between not wanting to put it down and never wanting the story to end you know you have a fantastic book that will surely give you a book hangover! This is exactly what this book has done to me. An amazing read that I would recommend to all readers especially those who love Beauty & the Beast with a very adult twist!

Wow !!
Fantastic ....loved it ..From the first few pages I knew it was one of those books my family would hate ,as I would go into my " ask dad " mode or " shhhh I'm reading".The storyline was addictive and so beautifully written. I will admit I did cry whilst reading and that was quite near the beginning ( no don't worry no spoiler ) but I did also smile .The characters were memorable and some rather heart wrenching .I usually find these type of books hard to read but not this one , I was so drawn in,that before I knew it the words " The End " appeared and to be honest I was gutted .Definitely a book I would read again .A wonderful book written by a wonderful Author !!

Great potential but not fully realised
What Lena's family endured actually brought tears to my eyes. The pain they suffered was immense and made me root for them. Against this back drop, the forceful nature of Guy's first time with Lena was uncomfortable. We were told to believe that despite his actions, she enjoyed herself and was anticipating it again! Really??! In what world does one immediately crave their abuser? Surely even Stockholm syndrome takes longer than one rough encounter?! She seemingly fell so easily for nothing but sex. Of course the reader knew Guy’s thoughts and that he felt more, however Lena certainly didn't know. Did the authors forget this or simply think we'd accept whatever we’re told to think? The relationship and their interactions should have been developed further. I was only accepting of their love because I wanted a HEA, not because we saw it unfold. I needed more as this book had great potential, it could have been brilliant. Nevertheless, parts of it were brilliant, it had a heart wrenching and touching back story, and characters that I rooted for and liked.

Beastly good dark romance
This fairytale retelling is not your usual Billionaire auction romance. Our hero Guy Hawke is a dark and tortured soul who lives forever in darkness after an horrific accident. Can Lana Seagull after a lifetime of abuse be his light in the dark? This is a story of obsession, love, betrayal and redemption but be warned this is a really dark captive romance with non consensual sex that some readers may find disturbing. Another thrilling steamy read by Georgia Le Carre.

I loved this book so much it hurts
This book is written with such feeling and empathy that it sweeps you away. Yes, there are a couple of hard-to-figure bits, like why didn't he get surgery earlier? I simply couldn't put this book down and read it non stop until it was finished and I was a puddle of tears. Don't miss out. Please read this book.
