a magical condiment - - another British gift to this American!
Let me begin by saying that I purchased this after debating for years because some people say it tastes like Miracle Whip. I cannot stand Miracle Whip; in my mouth, it tastes like fish. Heinz Salad Cream does NOT taste like Miracle Whip. It is a tangy, somewhat mustard-y, somewhat egg-y sauce. It's thinner--like a creamy salad dressing. So far, I've used it with deviled aggs, potatoes, potato salad, cold veggies, hot veggies, and its named use--on a salad. Honestly? It's amazing. Many, many years ago, people made salad dressings like this for their "lettuce salads" (check out the "I Love Lucy" episode featuring Aunt Martha's Old-Fashioned Salad Dressing, and you will see what I mean). It's a tangy, thinner variation on mayo . . . but it adds so much more flavor! Simply magical. This leaves the often-used ranch dressing in the dust. Give it a try! I think you'll be happy you did!

Thoughtful gift for an English person
My husband is English and loves this stuff - every time we go to England he has to bring back a bottle, but then it's so precious he won't use it very often and then he pouts when it's gone. It's expensive locally at import stores, and often dusty and very close to it's best-buy date. Hubby did something above and beyond so I bought him a six-pack. He's hard to buy for (doesn't want much) but this was a real hit! I've seen some reviews complaining about getting bottles that were too close to the best-by date. Note that on the back label, under the heading "Storage" it says in bold letters: UK Date Format. That means that 1-11-2013 expires November 1, 2013, and not January 11, 2013.

Formula has changed
Not as “zingy” as the previous formulation. I thought it was just me until my wife and friends said our egg salad and potato salad were “missing something “. I’ve tried it on my sandwiches plain and it is definitely a different formula. Package date is good for 18 months so it’s not old product. Super fast Amazon delivery as usual.
