I have a British cat with very long hair, and it needs grooming, no matter how often you brush it. Besides, she doesn’t allow anyone but me, her owner, to do its grooming – a true representative of a Royal family! I disliked the opportunity of giving her sleeping pills any time I took her to a groomer. Another option was giving up on grooming at all, but in that case she looked awful – hairballs all over! There was only one option left – to master grooming myself. According to the reviews, I purchased this book on Amazon and have never regretted about it. Firstly, it is good that the grooming process has step-by-step description. For me, who is a complete “dummy” in it, it was a detailed instruction that has made my life easy. The second strong point of the book is understandable pictures, so you don’t have to sit and wonder what the author means by it. Thirdly, it contains the information on which tools you need for successful results. Otherwise, I could have bought lots of useless things. Eventually, I groomed my Niusha so beautifully (by the way, it was my first experience!) that now my neighbours ask me to groom their pets. It seems that I might earn money by that soon. I would like to thank the author for giving my pet and me a chance to enjoy grooming.

My husband and me are fond of dogs, we have three (Golden retriever), and it is quite costly to have all of them groomed in Pet Saloon, so we made a decision to try home grooming on our own. We read some reviews on the book A Comprehensive Manual for Individualized Dog and Cat Grooming and decided to get it and did it right! The book is really informative and I think it is understandable for not only an advanced groomer, but also for a beginner, just like my husband and me. In addition, we purchased the necessary grooming tools and accessories and yesterday we checked our skills on our pets for the first time. It turned out to be perfect! Our neighbours were amazed by the result and made us a hint regarding their pets )). So now we are wondering about the possibility for us to set up our own business!?))

To be honest, I was quite skeptical about the reviews on the book, yet I made a decision to order it, plus the price was friendly. My doubts started fading away when I just by chance saw this book in Grooming Saloon where I take my pets (I have Border Collie). And then my skepticism disappeared completely after I had finally got the book. The book is just a hit! No matter how strange it may seem, I do agree with most of comments: live and interesting information, detailed description, and useful tips. I am a professional dog breeder and I stay on top of the news and trends in grooming. Besides, I often take my Smayling Queen to various dog shows and contests, and I can’t imagine my life without it. Now this book is always with me!

I have purchased this book for my kids, because they should be responsible for their pet and look after it. First two times it was my wife who supervised the process of grooming, and now they do the grooming of our Malysh (Chihuahua) on their own. They stand in line, in order to walk him, because he is always the center of attention and people admire him. Many reviews say that this book is useful and well-illustrated, but I believe the best advantage of it is that it makes even children understand how to groom their pet. As for me, I started taking notice of some mistakes my friends make while grooming their pets, and I have also recommended them to read this book.

Needed to know how to groom yorkie mix. Very helpful on lots of breeds to find a way to groom him. A excellant book on grooming.

Not the best book for grooming that I have seen.Not real well illustrated and does not give clear directions for cutting instructions.It does help with what the dog is supposed to look like but that's all.

I am an owner of two Retrievers. They are beautiful and graceful dogs. Their hair doesn’t need some specific care, though I regularly brush their hair. Nevertheless, regular grooming is necessary, to highlight the dogs’ natural beauty. To keep my pets’ hair in order, I used to use the service of a vet, and later take them to a groomer. Now I take them to a vet only. I have studied the book by Gurman, and it has been quite handy. I found it quite easy to trim the hair around a neck, as well as my dogs’ ears, and I have been rather good at shaping the paws and even at making “a feather” on a tail. I advice this book to everyone who are interested in animals, as well as in self-development. The book is easy to read, understand and the instructions are easy to put into practice.

This book must be for the absolute beginner, no real information on any breeds that was actually useful. Looks like it was put together by someone uninvolved with dogs or the dogworld. Very, very basic guidelines. Not helpful.
