Strong enough for North Scotland
We have erected this rotary washing in our garen about 250 yards from the coast in the north of Scotland and so far it seems to be able to cope with our strong winds. I like the line and find it easy to use now that it is erected. I have to agree with others that it is quite heavy and would be cumbersome to keep taking out of the post hole, but as mine will be left in place permanently that won't be a problem for me. I also agree that the line is very high - as I am tall I love it - not often I need to reach up to put washing on a line, however I think shorter people would have a real problem. Because of its height even I am not able to use the free cover as I can't reach to put it on. All that said, I am impressed with it because I have been looking for one for a while and any that I have seen locally cost over £200. Good product - good price - hope it can stand up to our weather for a long time.FOOTNOTEWe have now had the drier installed for 8 months and it has stood up to all that the winds up here can throw at it. Sometimes it seems to rotate so quickly that it could take off but it seems none the worse for it - brilliant is the only way I can describe it and will surely have another when this one reaches retirement!!

One good turn ...
This is a cleverly designed product that takes the effort out of drying washing outdoors. Unlike other rotary dryers that seldom rotate unless there is a 100mph gale, this product spins freely once raised out of its docking position with an easy to turn cranking handle. The four docking positions, at 90 degrees to each other, means that the line does not spin around whilst pegging the washing to the line. The green and leafy rain cover provided, means that the line blends fairly well into your garden when the line is clipped shut and covered when not in use. It also, of course, keeps the clothes line clean and dry when not in use. If desired, the whole mechanism is easily unlocked from its ground socket and removed. You are provided with a handy heavy duty plastic ground cover to plug the hole once the post has been lifted out of the ground. The rotary line comes with a long guarantee and The Home Laundry Company's customer help line and support is second to none. My wife has used a rotary dryer for many years and we bought this one for our new house. It is the best we have ever used and it was a really good decision on my part to buy it. It has my endorsement.Howard

Really strong washing line
This rotary washing line is great . It is a bit high but at least it keeps my bedding off the ground. It is really strong and the 4 arms enable me to get all my washing on at once. Not really keen on the plastic winder as it dosent look that robust.Delivered on time and well packaged so a good service from the supplier.

Heavy Duty crank and lift rotary dryer
Bit disappointed when it arrived as part of the black plastic flange situated near the pole was broken and also the plastic coated covering on the line was also cut. Should really have sent it back, but ended up gluing it, but not a good start.. I assume as the broken bit was in the box that it happened in somewhere, but as the broken bit was protected in the centre of the packaging it is difficult to see how this could happen. Although described as heavy duty some of the plastic fittings appear to me to be a bit flimsy. The bit that was broken and the part that keeps the whole dryer in open position are examples. Time will tell I guess. As is made clear in the product details (and in other reviews) this is a very tall dryer, which is great for catching the wind but not good for short people. My wife is vertically challenged at 5ft. Like others I sunk the pole quite deep in the ground perhaps 5 inches or so, plus the dryer is on a slight hill so it can be loaded from the up hill side. It's not a problem though as once the dryer is loaded with washing, the winch mechanism allow you you you to raise the height of the washing another 5 inches or so. Short people need not be put off, but a bit of thought is required as to hoe deep to position it.Our last rotary dryer was Brabantia which cost around £60 and that lasted well until a freak wind left it totally mangled. So far (2 months use) the dryer has with stood fairly heavy gales. Given the price and the fact that it is decribed as heavy duty, this what you should expect. Whether it will last 5 years or the 10 years that I expect only time will tell. I have to say that it has a strong big diameter pole, but it is the arms that get destroyed in gales (in my experiance) and I can't see that this any thing different from the previous Brabantia being joined together with rivets. The dryer comes with a cover which is a nice touch. With the Brabantia we left it fully open all the year round, but with the new one we have folded it up when not in use. While extra hassle for busy people, I hope that this will extend its life. When folded there is a velcro tape which wraps round every thing to keep the washing lines in place. The velcro does not seem to work? Not a deal breaker but annoying. The dryer has 4 sides which gives ample room for large families with a big wash and it happily takes double sheetsThe dryer is big and heavy so the base does need to be cemented into the ground. I found some ready mix concrete in home base which claims to be designed for rotary dryers and posts. I think it was £10 and I ended buying 2.If the dryer was not broken on arrival I would probably give it 4 stars, and while it appears to be quite strong I am not sure it deserves to be called heavy duty. I live on the side of a hill and it does get windy....only time will tell

Crank raises the height not extends the arms.
Arrived quite quickly by courier. It is of sturdy build and heavy construction. It differs from other airers because of its height function.1.To extend the arms I have to press a small catch near the post not unlike an umbrella. Not as you might think, using the handle seen in the photo. 2.Once up, the arms are its lowest height. I am 5'6 and can comfortably peg-out without stretching.3.Then you use the crank to raise the arms another foot into the air. Now I can't reach. But the wind now hits the washing as it is above fences.4. This allows a very smooth turning of the arms in the slightest of breezes. (must be ball bearings 'cos I cant hear a thing)This is not the item for you, if you are petite or have trouble lifting your arms or shoulders. It might be a fiddle if you extend and put away the arms after every use(cover included). I just leave mine up all summer. It is fantastic if you do lots of washing. I can get 25kg of washing on the lines with ease. I now have a peg bag on each side for ease.Edit. 2022 still very happy. Just changing the line for the first time.
