Dirt farmers, Debutantes. Politics and Murder ...
With " Murder and the Silent Coup," Mr Jackson shares his intimate, historical knowledge of the South in telling his fictional story of love, loss, ambition, and murder within the high stakes world of politics. His vivid characters are richly drawn and ones you come to know well, and care about. The settings, from the grand homes of the South and New York City to the war strewn battlefields of France are described in detail placing you there. At times, Mr. Jackson"s writing brings his characters and the reader to a place of calm and security. Though shock and heartbreak are only a breath away. This makes for good reading throughout. His book places real life persons, all footnoted, into a wonderful story and characters of his own creation. The story leaves you wanting more, which will come in his second book.

A Great Read!
I love historical novels and this one was very enjoyable. The characters were fascinating and the author did an excellent job of describing places and events, whether it was a magnificent apartment on Fifth Avenue, a battlefield in France, or a pool in Warm Springs, Georgia. I felt as if I was right there experiencing the moment with the character.Loved the footnotes and the fact that you didn't have to turn to the back of the book to understand the reference, it was right at the bottom of the page. Brilliant!

This book holds your attention
I really enjoyed this book. Mr Jackson is a talented writer, story teller and historian. The story revolves around a family from Georgia and transports the reader to the trenches of the WWI to NYC society to Washington DC and FDR’s New Deal. Great characters and sub plots.
