This is the smaller junior model. Many years ago I used the standard model and I saw no dust anywhere. All that dust on your horizontal surfaces, including carpet, is what you are breathing in. I also tried a different make's tabletop model. Filter needed frequent cleaning; It was much cheaper than Austin but you get what you pay for. Austin's filters need replacing every five years. Well worth the money for the best out there.

We have a regular size Healthmate that we run in our main living area, but find it a bit too loud to have on all the time. The Junior is noticeably quieter and now we have it running in our bedroom around the clock. Don't let the upfront cost scare you off. The 5-year lifespan on the filter makes this the best value hands down. By example, I looked at a competitor's high-end air purifier that costs $400, but requires a filter change every six months. At $70 a pop, that's $1,030 spent in 5-years, nearly half of what the Healthmate Junior costs for the same 5-years.Update: My in-laws recently purchased a new regular size Healthmate and it is MUCH quieter than our version that is 15-years or so old. Not as quiet as the JR, but much quieter than our older version of the same model. I'm running the JR in the room with me now and can barely hear it.
