Robust, eminently adjustable backpack
Bought mine from "Outdoor Value" and received it within a few days, two or three at the most, so would happily recommend them as a seller.Use it mainly for shopping - nearest supermarket's a mile away, and I've no car, so need something I can get a decent shop into, without it becoming cumbersome. However, now think I'll probably use it the next time I go on a short trip, as the backpack is of decent capacity and looks as it would pass as carry-on.To give an idea of capacity, two 12 can packs of coke comfortably fit in the main compartment, longways, with a little room to spare each side and room on top for about another half dozen cans or so. The secondary compartment is more than large enough for a 15" screen laptop and if I had two I could probably fit in another. That's usually enough for me, but if it wasn't, I'd still have the last two compartments - the larger of which is about the size of an iPad, but a couple of inches wide, while the other the size of a small washbag. The shoulder straps are adjustable top and bottom. There are two expansion straps each side and two on the bottom, allowing you to cinch the pack tighter, if it's not full, so the weight's on the rig, not pulling the zips apart. The handle on the top feels comfortable and the stitching's reassuringly heavy. Though I don't intend to use it, it has the MOLLE / PALS webbing rows for attachment of add-ons, if you should need it.The fabric is heavy-duty nylon, matt finish - looks and feels like a couple of Eastpak bags I have, which is also reassuring, as Eastpak make decent, long-lasting products. The pack is lined, so is probably shower-proof, though the zips aren't covered, so possibly wouldn't stand up to a complete drenching.

Good value, multi pocket pack , for kit, hand tools and components.
In 6 years working as a gardener I have struggled to find a rucksack that met my requirements. Typically you need one large section for larger items and then 2-3 smaller pockets for an assortment of small hand tools, wire, twine, gloves, seed packets.I have tried many well known outdoor brands and the designs have tended to be suboptimal for my purposes. On top of that, within 3-12 months rucksacks when used intensively, tend to fail at the seams, pockets tear or handles break; often a combination of the above. This rucksack has the necessary large pocket, one other of decent size and then several... essentially pouches. Internally there is a hanging zippered pocket useful for carrying slightly security sensitive items such as client keys or zip drives. The large section has a mesh pouch for keeping documents, a tablet, a small laptop etc separate from everything else. Between the back padding and the bag itself there is an exterior velcro pouch that could also be used for a small folder or small laptop I guess. The handle is reinforced as are the seams and the rucksack is sturdy. The straps and back are padded, although not massively so, but even packed with kit I have found it comfortable enough to carry. The pockets seem to have a waterproof coating that has worked thus far although I'd perhaps avoid leaving any bag in a downpour. The bag doesn't have a water bottle pouch or pocket on the outside but I have always been able to find a space for a bottle in either of the larger two sections. The pack doesn't have the 10s-100s of pockets/pouches that you might typically want as a plumber, electrician I guess; there are more appropriate trade specific items from brands like DeWalt. It is great though as a general rugged rucksack and it handles several pairs of secateurs, small hedging shears, a small set of loppers, multiple gloves, a dustpan and brush set, wire cutters, other hand tools, lunch, a large jumper and multiple knick knacks and is incredibly cheap considering that.I have one complaint with regards to the build quality of the pack. I own the smaller, 30L version of this bag also. It is similar in quality and design but it has a far chunkier, reassuringly sturdier feeling zip. The zipper on the 40L bag is somewhat plasticky in comparison, with flimsier pulls/handles on the zip. Unfortunately, I think the zip on my first 40L version of this bag was probably faulty when I received it but once it had been used to carry muddy kit for a couple of months I didn't feel I could return it. I liked the bag enough that I have since bought a second which I do not regret. I would recommend both the 40L and 30L versions of this item.

Brilliant, buy one if you want this size.
This rucksack is really brilliant and I have no problem whatsoever in giving it a 5 * quality rating.I do a lot of wild life photography and trudging around in the wilds of Scotland. This pack is made of really good quality material.(As a consequence, when empty it is not light weight but not that heavy. I am 63 and not in perfect health so a younger fitter person would have no issue). I would not want to reduce the weight for a less quality material. It has enough useful pockets/compartment without being "fussy" and I would say it is by far the best bag/pack that I have had the opportunity to purchase. I spent some time narrowing down which one to choose from Amazon since size is important. Some bags appeared to be really good until you notice just how small they are. (Bearing in my I am 6' 2" tall).I quickly realised that 40lts gave a bag approx 2ft tall and this one avoided the mistake of small little compartments that would only be big enough for erelevent items. Very happy with my choice. Company sent bag quickly and it was packed and protected well.Camourflouge choice was also good for Forrest/open terrain.Very happy.

Cheap rubbish
I bought this to replace my ageing Jeep rucksack but despite its worn state this new one was no match. Everything about it says cheap and flimsy, the straps and buckles seems fragile, and the zips look like they are two pulls away from coming apart. Don't bother....

A read load lugger!
So far I'm impressed. I've only used it the once getting gear on and off the 300 yard range at Bisley and it coped well with a heavy load.My only criticism is that I think this was designed and manufactured in China, where people are generally of smaller stature, so the chest strap would strangle this average-sized European if I could do it up! My only worry is that the zips may not be as strong as I need, but so far, all is good. I shall apply a little silicon grease to help them run freely. For me it was definitely well worth purchasing the larger 40 litre capacity.
