This item is sturdy. The colored lids were of a single piece that could be removed to be washed with the lower piece in a dishwasher.

So, this is very similar to another one I've used for a long time, the same purple and blue almost exactly, and they improved it in several ways. The hinges seem stronger, the older model the hinges would break after not too many months; the lids are less likely to come open accidentally which they did sometimes in my luggage on the older model. I see people complain that they're hard to open compartments but that is the price you pay for not spilling pills all over your day bag. Now for the maddening flaw the week is printed inconsistently and cattywampus, if you have it so that morning text is right side up from Sunday to Saturday, then morning is on the bottom and the top is upside down text Sunday through Saturday so option one is for p.m. pills to be on the top and a.m pills to be on the bottom but for the p.m. pill printing to be upside down. If I turn it so that the a.m. pills are on the top, then everything goes from right to left and the PM pill printing is correctly right side up but all the pills are right to left compartments instead of left to right. There is no orientation where the text is right side up for both morning and night and there is also knowing notation where the morning is on the top and the evening is on the bottom and you can go left to right. See the picture, it is just silly in a world where everything is left to right on top to bottom. Still this is the one I will purchase since the other very similar model tended to break or spill pills.

PINK & PURPLE holders are great! Each "lid strip" (AM and PM) comes out of the base separately -- So you do not have to align the lids together before you insert them back into the base. The lid strips must be removable, otherwise you have to fidget with keeping the lids open while filling the compartments. I've dealt with the *OTHER* type before and they are SO hard to handle I avoid them at all costs. With THIS pill case, it is VERY EASY to take the lids off when it's time to refill the compartments and easy to put the lids back on. These organizers also have the curved-edge front on the base -- You can easily scoop the pills out of the compartment since they slide right up the curve (pills can't be scooped out of a squared-edge front). These seem quite sturdy and the snap-close mechanism operates well and is secure. I do wish they offered more color combinations -- Husband and I both use these and it would be nice to have "his and hers" colors LOL!! I tried ordering the blue & yellow but found out they are the "take apart" style which does not work for us. My mistake! I will definitely buy this product again -- they work very well and are easy to handle for those of us with manual dexterity and vision issues!

Opening was hard for some days of the week, while some days were easy, maybe too easy for traveling in a bag. Snapping close was also hard for some days. The ergonomics were poor with very little lip to open the days that were harder. Expect it would be difficult for someone with arthritis or reduced hand strength. Did not have a quality feel.

There are so many things wrong with this product, it's hard to know where to start. Some will say, "You get what you pay for," but even at this price, it's too much for what it is.1. The lids on each individual compartment refuse to close securely, or easily. I've had this for a few months, and I can't tell you how many times I've tipped the case up to pour the pills from Tuesday into my hand, only to have the pills from Sunday, or from Sunday and Friday, fall out on the table, the sofa, and/or the floor. I don't feel that I should have to check the closures of every compartment each time I open only one.2. This advertises a curved bottom meant to make getting the pills out easier. The curve is nearly unnoticeable, and certainly does NOT help in the intended fashion. Any larger pills, liquigels, or pills with flatter sides, get stuck. I've not had a single day when at least one pill wasn't difficult to retrieve.3. The description says, "flexible." In truth, it's just flimsy, cheap plastic, and that's a generous description.4. The compartments are just a bit too narrow for some pills, and one of mine pretty consistently gets stuck..All in all, it's crap. Don't waste money that would be better used by literally throwing it in the garbage.

This is second time ordering. Quite pleased only complaint is the dates wear off after while. Plastic and holds and locks very well. Had first one for 2 years plus ordered second for wife
