Martelli Roundabout Set - 16" Turntable, Cutting Mat & Ironing Pad

This set of a rotating mat for cutting sad a mat for ironing is really nice. Place the cutting mat on the black disc to cut your pieces. Sew, then turn over the back disk for the pressing mat. You must NOT iron on the cutting mat! It is not heat tolerant! I came across this set when looking for a hexagon set from Martelli to be used in a quilt-as-you-go project. I didn’t find the hexagon set, but found this set, which I find to be very sturdy and very practical, I plan to use it right at my sewing machine. Instead of having a pressing station and a cutting station near my machine, this one set is all I need. I simply turn to use whatever side I need at the time, then continue on sewing. This is a much better use of my space around my machine.

The rotating Round About was amazing. Cutting time was literally cut in half. I used the Clammy templates....amazing precision cuts. Love it!!.

This cutting and pressing mat combo is perfect for travel and for every day use. I love how easy it rotates and never seems to have any cutting marks. It’s my go to mat for most small piece cutting. Worth the investment.

WOW I gave it 5 stars because this round turntable is great except for one thing----it constantly rotates even while cutting. It's quite difficult to cut with the ball bearings going and going. Other than that I'm amazed at how large of a cutting area it provides. I used the pressing mat and it really does do a good job on the cotton fabric. I just have to get used to it not being steadfast when cutting. I did remove it from the base and what a grip it has BUT no rotating unless I do it. I've put aside my regular rotating mats to only use this one. Thank you for such a good product.

I've had several rotating cutting boards in the past for cutting around quilt pieces. This is the smoothest, most durable board I have ever used. It's a bit more expensive, but if you do alot of piecing/cutting, I think it's worth it.

Works so sooth great addition to a sewing room!

Like I stated above this cutting board is special, one must try it for themselves. The cost is somewhat high but upon using it one knows that we will never have to replace it. Marvelous weight and stays stationary. Moves with ease.

If you are expecting an Olfa cutting surface you will be disappointed, but never fear, although it is different it is still very nice. Fabric ‘slides’ differently on it and its not as rubbery feeling when you cut on it. The turn table itself is a bit surprising upon first use from a noise point of view, not -bad- but you can definitely hear the ball bearing based ‘lazy susan’ underneath. I suspect its partially because unlike other smaller cake turn tables, this is made with some robustness so that we can lean in a bit whilst using it without harm to the inner mechanics.I a bead of elastic sealant on the wood of the ironing pad as no matter what I did it would slide around a little on both the turn table or on the cutting surface. This keeps it from slipping by giving it purchase. My recommendation to the manufacturer would be to add some no slip to the plywood underneath. The smell when using with a steam iron is not so hot, and absolutely dont get the iron near the cutting mat as it will melt things and smear the markings (part of why I opted to fix the sliding issue)Using a rotating cutting mat takes a little getting used to but it really makes things awesomely more efficient when you get into a groove and are cutting small to small/midsized items repeatedly, both with the rotary cutter or good scissors.All in all I’m very pleased with my purchase. I don’t have any of the other rotating cutting mats to compare.
