A great mystery on the mountain!
I had to completely switch genres after finishing my last book (it hurt so bad). So while scanning my shelf I picked up Jennifer L Armentrout’s Frigid and knew that would be the perfect way to heal my heart.Frigid tells the story of Sydney and Kyler—best friends since they can remember but Syd is harboring a major crush on Kyler and Kyler...well he didn’t do relationships, hook ups only. They, along with Andrea and Tanner are headed up to Kyler’s place for some skiing and snowboarding when a massive snow snow hits leaving only Syd and Kyler to their own devices. Strange things start happening around them amid the storm—Syd and Kyler have to batten down the hatches and hope no one can withstand the storm to bother them. This book is jam packed with action, love, heartbreak and so much more. The mystery of who was messing with them truly stayed a mystery. Something that bugged me about the book is that Sydney whined a lot—but what I loved in turn was how reassuring and patient Kyler was with Syd and her insecurities.Overall Frigid is a great read! Nothing like a little mystery and romance to finish the weekend!3/5, great book!

A sweet story
I’ve read several books written by Jennifer L. Armentrout under both her pseudonyms, and I just love her books. So when I was looking for a new read and saw ‘Frigid’, the first book in a series I haven’t read before, I just couldn’t resist and bought it.In ‘Frigid’ we meet Sydney and Kyler. Sydney and Kyler have been best friends ever since they were little. But Sydney has been feeling much more than friendship for Kyler for a long time now. But Kyler is one of those guys who has a different hook-up every single night. When I read the book description I loved the sounds of this best friend romance book, and I was excited to find myself really liking Sydney and Kyler’s characters. There friendship was just really sweet and I was really rooting for them. But I had some issues with this book. I don’t mind reading sex scenes but here it just felt a little awkward and too much at times. I mean, best friends forever and they go from being just friends to much more in only a second? Okay, it was a little longer but I just didn’t get it. They where secretly pining for each other but both were afraid to say it and when they finally share their feelings they can’t stop having sex and don’t talk about anything? I mean.. I get it.. but when you’ve been afraid to hurt your friendship for so long I don’t get how they can forget all that in a second.Although I liked the two main characters, I didn’t really like reading about how ‘perfect’ Kyler was and how he was sleeping with everyone who had breasts. Why are some guys like that? I mean.. blegh.. And really.. Kyler supposedly is the perfect man: handsome, abs etc. A little less perfect would have been much more believable. But thankfully there was still a lot I liked about this book too. For one the friendship between Sydney and Kyler. And I loved the scenery in this book. Who doesn’t love reading about a cabin surrounded with snow in December?! LOL!Overall this story was sweet and I enjoyed reading it.

Another fantastic contemporary romance from Jennifer L. Armentrout
Sydney and Kyler have been best friends forever, through grade school troubles, Sydney's first boyfriend, and the endless stream of girls in Kyler's bed. But when a winter break trip to Kyler's family's ski lodge turns into some snowed-in alone time between Sydney and Kyler, hidden feelings come out and the clothes start coming off. But when Kyler's past catches up to him, will Sydney turn out to be just another girl in a long list, or have they both found their forever?Frigid is another wonderful new adult contemporary romance from J. Lynn/Jennifer L. Armentrout. As with any of Jen's stories, the reader gets pulled into the plot right away and, even though you know there will probably be some turbulence along the way, you need to see the characters get their happily-ever-after. If you are a fan of contemporary romance, you will love seeing the less-experienced Sydney come alive while the promiscuous Kyler finds himself finally tamed. Frigid is a fairly quick read, perfect for a weekend (mental) getaway or as a fun palate cleanser between heavier/longer reads.

A lovely, steamy and quick romance read with some winter vibes!!
• 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 •𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲: Frigid𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Frigid #1𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿: Jennifer L. Armentrout𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: ☆☆☆☆ 4/5I have read this book quite some time ago (almost 6 years to be exact) and I loved this book just as much as I did the first time! This isn’t your typical friends to lovers book. It does seem that way on multiple occasions and yes it does have some cliché, but it was still very original and nothing like I’ve read before. I loved how Kyler and Sydney got stuck together during a snow storm… (made it a perfect winter read as well) and with no distractions they only had eyes for each other and each other as entertainment. What I liked most about this story that there was also some mystery and action involved. While they are stuck together some strange things started to happen. All in all, a lovely, steamy and quick romance read with some winter vibes!!

Can two best friends get out of friend zone? Who's stalking them and why?
Frigid feels like a by-the-numbers romance that tried to pivot onto romantic suspense, but failed to deliver it with any interesting spark.Sydney and Kyler had been best friends since they were kids. He shoved her on the playground, and she made him eat a mud pie. Sydney wanted Kyler for a long time, but Kyler is a man-whore, never staying with a girl for more than a few nights. Now that Syd and Ky are in their final year of college, Syd has no intention of upsetting that applecart... Kyler does not desire Syd in a womanly way, or so he told himself. Kyler prefer the friendship, for Syd is the perfect girl, and Ky is just the bad boy from the wrong side of tracks. When both were stranded in a cabin by a snowstorm, their tension turned into a full-blown fire of attraction... then they found someone was stalking them...As I said, the pivot to romantic suspense really made little sense, and came a bit too late to add tension to the plot. All in all, it's a bit of "meh".

Nice easy read
Frigid is about two friends, Kyler and Sydney. They are a somewhat mismatched set of friends but they’ve been best buddies for years.‘Actually, we went together like a lion and a gimpy gazelle that had no chance of outrunning the predator. I was the gimpy gazelle.’When they met Kyler was a boy from a trailer park and Sydney was the sweet little girl who befriended him. Over the years Kyler’s family succeeded in their business and are now very wealthy but in his head he is still trash and she is still too good for him.‘Sydney Bell had always been, and would always be, a few pedestals too high for me.’Kyler is a bit of a man whore, never having relationships but a succession of one night stands. Sydney on the other hand is very inexperienced. She had one boyfriend a few years ago, who labelled her ‘frigid’, which she found very hurtful. All potential boyfriends since then have been chased off by Kyler, who is insanely protective over her. Of course, it doesn’t help her romantic life that she’s been in love with him for years.‘No one could replace me in his life. I knew that. I was the friend who knew everything about him and whom he trusted and whom he trusted above everyone else.I was Kyler’s best friend. And because of that, he would never love me the way I loved him.’Every year Kyler has a group of friends over to his mum’s ski lodge for some skiing. This year, Kyler and Sydney will be driving together, and their friends will follow. However, the mother of all storms hits, leaving them stranded together, unable to leave, with a lot of misunderstanding and mutual attraction between them. To add to the tension, somebody is carrying out some attacks on the property and they are not sure who or why.I found this to be some very easy reading, and I gobbled it up in just a few hours. I always enjoy the friends secretly in love trope, I’m not attractive enough for him/She deserves better scenario, and I enjoyed this. Sydney is a funny girl, a real over-thinker, a quality I can identify with. Kyler was generally a bit selfish and thoughtless but he genuinely cared for Sydney which was nice. If you prefer to avoid sex scenes you probably wouldn’t be reading New Adult genre, but just to warn you there are several. The downside of this book for me was the attacks; I didn’t feel either of them, particularly Sydney, took the attacks on them very seriously which didn’t make sense to me as they could have led to serious injury. Some of the actions that Sydney took once she knew there was danger present reminded me of one of those horror films where the TSTL (Too Stupid To Live) girl makes decisions that are devoid of all sense. For me, this would have been a better book without this aspect to the story as it didn’t add the tension that it could have if the characters had reacted to it differently, so it just got in the way. However, this was a nice easy read, and the next time I’m in a reading slump I’d definitely consider reading another J Lynn book.

Something missing...
I enjoyed the book 'Wait for You' by this author so I was looking forward to Frigid. However, it didn't live up to my expectations. There was something missing from the story for me. Maybe it was that it took place whilst they were away from their normal surroundings or maybe it was that Kyler sounded far older and mature in the sex scenes than he actually was.The story isn't very original. I have read many books featuring manwhores like Kyler but I found this one a bit extreme in that not only did Kyler never spend the night with any of the women he bedded and he never went without a condom but that he also only ever had sex with them from behind! Of course this set it up nicely for how wonderful sex with Skylar was but I found Kyler's prowess in the bedroom a bit of a surprise considering how he described sex with the many women that came before Skylar. The usual fall out and reconciliation was a bit lacking. It wasn't explained enough why Kyler felt like he wasn't good enough for Sky. I definitely wanted more from this story but I do like this authors writing style and it won't put me off trying more of her novels.

A great, quick read
4.5 Stars. This was quite a short read, but an enthralling one all the same. Ordinarily I don't like contemporary romance unless there's other key sub-plots behind it. There was a little drama/suspense in this book but primarily it centers on the relationship between Sydney (Syd) and Kyler. I'm therefore impressed that Jennifer managed to write a book like this that hooked me in quickly and kept my attention the full way through.Kyler and Sydney have been BFF's since they were kids. Both of them harbor romantic feelings for the other but neither has been brave enough to broach the subject, for fear of ruining their friendship. That is a very believable story line and I could completely relate to both characters as they reacted in different ways to things that happened between them.Kyler is described as a 'man-whore' and it's a very unlike-able trait. I started off hating him but he quickly won me over. At times I was reminded a little of Christian Gray. That I still loved him is down to Jennifer's ability to create totally swoon-worthy guys that you just can't help falling for. His sweet protectiveness of Syd also won him additional points. All in all, another great read from JLA.

... live up to my expectations and as predicted I loved it! Sinking into the pages of a J
I started this book after a reading slump from reading a few books which didn't live up to my expectations and as predicted I loved it! Sinking into the pages of a J.Lynn/Jennifer Armentrout book is like coming home, with her fantastic writing style, where you can find yourself at ease between the pages.Sydney is a normal girl, with normal hang-ups, like most girls, which is great to relate to. There is points in this book where you just want to knock Sydney and Tanners heads together for not being able to see what is right in front of them! This has totally pulled me out of my book slump, but at the same time left we with a huge book hangover! I cannot wait to sink my teeth into book two!

Nothing new here - eye-rolling NA
Follows all the usual NA tropes (sexually prolific bad boy, good girl who is practically a virgin, off-beat names (Kyler anyone?), misunderstanding as an impediment to the couple getting together and drawing out the climax (pun intended)). Some hot scenes but utterly forgettable and totally predictable. There are much better NA books out there but it was probably my own fault for buying a book called "Frigid" in the first place! Also, are we really still in a place where men who sleep with "easy" girls and call them skanks but put the virginal good girl on a pedastal are attractive romantic types? I like a cheesy romance as much as the next girl but it's like feminism never happened at all.
