Great for a software NAS setup.
This is an excellent and affordable non-raid controller. Which if you your building your own NAS storage is fine as there are software raid solutions. The cable are a good length and have the little metal clips for a more secure connection. Even comes with a PSU extender so you can power up to 4 additional drives. How ever I would suggest that you check how much power your consuming and going to consume and your PSUs rating before you dive in. 10 HDDs can pull a considerable amount of juice.

Easy install, works great
I used this in my HP Pavilion desktop to add another SATA disk drive. It was plug and play, no driver required (although one was provided).

I have a SATA card already but was thinking I could use a better one since I'd just grabbed the cheapest thing on the market back then, and I was stretching these cables to the maximum to reach around the side of the card. This kit fixes two problems at once. Since the ports are all on this side of the card, they're closer to my motherboard so I don't have to stretch the cables as much. My other problem was that I simply needed more cables, so I'm happy to get more with this kit. Seems like a decent value, all things considered.
