Informative, direct and easy to follow
Very informative and easy to read. The handbook is well written and illustrated. It is easy to follow and is to the point about how our equine friends are made. Great for a young breeder, beginner judge and equine care professional.

Its all here
This is a big book physically, 8.5 X 11 inches and 387 pages. There are hundreds of drawings and photographs to support the text. This book is comprehensive. It is a quality production. The glossary is eight pages (about 500 descriptions). There is a good index is you want to dip into the book. It is a book to be read continuously, absorbing a little with every read. You need this book on your shelf.

Great Insight
I love this book, from the illustrations to the detailed information about a horses conformation and the problems certain faults can cause. I would highly recommend this book if you are going to buy a horse, and how to live with, and support certain conformation problems.

Excellent book
Well, I was trying to get a better understanding of horse mechanics and conformation and bought several books and videos. This is the only one that had what i was looking for. Not only is it complete, its also very well written and easy to understand even for a non-pro. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand what physical characteristics denote long term soundness and greater athletic potential. Of all the books / videos i've bought on the subject, this one is worth all the others put together and more.

Very relevant for anyone wanting to do right by their horse
Top! Clearly written. Very relevant for anyone interested in evaluating horses fairly before demanding physical exercise. Interesting for both professionals as well as horse owners wanting to do best by their horse and keep them happy, sound and healthy in accordance with their possibilities.

A must have.
This book is a gold mine of information. From the first few pages you begin learning things about the horse body you probably never knew unless you've been raised into horses. And even then you might still learn quite a few things. This is a must read for anyone serious about his horsemanship and/or wanting to buy their own horses.

Very helpful book!
Conformation was a mystery to me. I was accustomed to Dad buying a young horse that needed to be 'broke'. End of story. Now after 20 years away - we took in a couple horses. I stumbled upon this book just browsing thru Amazon's offerings. I learned a lot! There are diagrams / charts to learn (or refresh) anatomy knowledge as well. I thought it was thorough and while pointing out that there is no "perfect" horse - it discussed the pro's and con's of say "a long back vs a short back" to help you make an informed decision about a prospect depending on what you are planning to do with your horse - hopefully enabling you to have a sound horse for you chosen discipline. I think it was offered in Kindle as well - but I chose the actual book as this is one that I KNOW will be referred to again. Now I understand why I so thoroughly enjoyed riding one horse and couldn't stand another's "choppiness". Sorry I'm not able to say if this is a good book for a seasoned horse person but I'd sure recommend it for anyone that wanted to expand their knowledge of horses in general and how each body part affects their performance.

Comprehensive
Anyone looking to purchase a horse, particularly their first one, should have this comprehensive guide to assessing conformation. Its a lot of information but gives the reader a more educated eye in choosing a horse that will meet their training and competition requirements. I am using it for an anatomy course and have found the material helpful, although long winded at times.
