I enjoyed the world building, but the romance fell flat for me.
This is the first book in another trilogy by Josie Litton that seems to go by two names. Either "Akora Trilogy" or "Medieval Trilogy", the last of which is odd because it isn't medieval, except for maybe they are referring to their time on Akora? If you haven't first read this author's Viking & Saxon series, then I would recommend that. They make some mention to the Hawkforte's, but nothing you would need to have read the books to understand. The main reason that you should read them first is because they were A-W-E-S-O-M-E!Lady Joanna Hawkforte is looking for he brother, Royce, who left nine months ago to go to Akora. Akora is a warrior island nation that kills any and all visitors. Royce should have been back six months ago and Lady Joanna is understandably distressed. Royce is the only family that Joanna has left. Joanna leaves Hawkforte for London and tries every avenue she can find to get information about Royce. Her last option is to pursue information through Lord Darcourt who is a decedent of the only known survivor to land on Akora. Lord Darcourt snubs Joanna in front of the ton and leaves Joanna no choice but to stow away on his ship as he leaves to go back to Akora. That is all I will say because the rest is all the intrigue of discovery of Akora and the treachery of both Akorans and the English.I didn't enjoy this book as much as the Viking & Saxon series, but perhaps some of that was that I was only able to snag small pieces of time here and there to read this. Perhaps I wasn't able to immerse myself as much as I wanted. I enjoyed all the Akora stuff, but I felt like the time between Darcourt and Joanna was a little flat. I am however looking forward to the third book which is the Vanax and Brianna. For other Josie Litton reviews, visit my blog at: [...]

Great Book
Of this trilogy this is probably the most passionate one and has a very good story line. The historical implications ofthis are very good and plays to events even today of presumptions that can be made as to what cultures and people are all about with out really knowing the truth or how it really is. I think it is interesting that she has some of her characters from both cultures this gives it a little slant as they can understand both sides of the argument andloyalties which she brings up in all of these trilogies. Also her treatment of the women characters are very good they are powerful and strong not weaklings.

A fine tale
This is a good story, although the writing is a bit stilted. The heroine shows away to the mysterious closed kingdom of Akoros to rescue her brother and becomes the concubine in name of the Prince. This soon turns to concubine in fact and they have various adventures in rescue of her brother. The characters were fine, the adventure was fine, the Romance predictable. It is a fine story but not a great one.

Very good
I enjoyed the story a lot, but at times it dragged a bit. Interesting descriptions of settings along with believable characters make it a good choice.

Too delicious
Josie Litton has done it again, and again, and again. This was a big, sexy, adult fairytale. Josie doesn't disappoint. I can't wait to start another of her books.

Good book
This book is actually what got me interested in reading romance. It has a good plot with lots of romance and a touch of suspense and fantasy. Characters are well-developed, too. I caught myself laughing out loud at some of the thoughts and scenes. I would recommend this book to others.

Interessante
Achei o livro muito interessante e bem escrito. A narrativa deixa a gente presa até o final e ainda fiquei querendo saber a história dos outros irmãos e personagens. E já li todas e gostei muito.
