Very good boots that are perfect for construction work
Very nice boots I do masonry work as a laborer and there great I love the look and the cushion in the heel is like a hoka running shoe it's bouncy I'm 6'1 240 and have mostly worn redwings which are good but they don't have that good shock absorption from running up and down a scaffold like these do I also really like that I can tie these boots nice and snug and zip them up and I can zip them off without untieing and the laces don't loosen at all the traction is good as well just as good as a red wing or Irish setter haven't slipped on dry or wet surfaces I'm hoping that the sole will last at least 4 to 5 months but Soo far after a week I haven't seen any wear as of yet but time will tell as for water resistance I haven't tested it yet but as for any work boots that's not a muck boot I probably wouldnt walk in heavy mud or water that's more that 4 inches deep as with most boots water seems to always get in little by little I've got these in the summer I haven't had any issues with overheating or very sweaty feet I could see these boots possibly working in the winter if you doubled up on socks but I think insulated muck boots may be the way to go but overall these boots are definitely great if you work in the trades doing heavy labor I'd recommend being safe and getting the composite toe version of these because these offer no protection for you toes. I'd also order either a half or full size down as the sizing is off and the toebox is a little wider but no worries because the boot fits like a glove this is easily the best boot I've ever worn to work and the price makes it that much more worth it I'll be a returning buyer

These did it for me.
I work as a Paramedic in Colorado. I have gone through a lot of boots. The company issues 511 and for three seasons they are fine, Some below 30 days you nee wool socks. But for summer, being at this altitude the sun is intense. I have used jungle boots, cool but hurt my feet after 12 hour shifts. These boots though, are very breathable. (surprisingly) I wasn't sold om them, being I have gone through so many (breathable) boots in the 35 years of service. These boots with cool Bamboo cushen socks are the ticket. 12W fits with good air circulation. Tie them tight the first day then back off to a looser fit for air movement. I was a Marine and found out early not to use the eyelets across the ankle. The tongue will eat you up. I did put an extra thin foot bed in dur to my arch. ABSOLUTLY OUTSTANDING!!!! after that. The normal shoe is very comfortable. I just fine tuned it. The socks help in the heat, Thicker ones when it is colder outside. Bipolar Colorado means you have to have options. I am very happy with this perches. My other recordation was from a soldier friend who said Oakley's were his go to in Afghanistan for rear time.

Love the boot fit. Very light weight and creates stability on my ankles. No new boot foot pains whatsoever so ever . 10/10.

Great Comfort and Style but Hot
After 8 years of daily wearing a pair of 5.11, 6 inch boots I decided to semi retire them and, after reading many reviews, I decided to purchase the Nortive 8 inch boots, primarily because they were lightweight. After I received them, I finished lacing them up and wore them for a couple of inside my house. After two days, I contemplated returning them because they were much wider even though the size 12 I chose wasn’t described being wide. But, after using over the calf cotton boot socks I decided to keep them. Overall, the quality appears to be very good. The seams are tight with no dangling threads and the zippers operate fairly smoothly. They are almost as light as the 5.11, 6 inch boots in spite of being 2 inches taller. I’ve been wearing them for three days now and can confidently say that they’re very comfortable for all day wear. While they do fit my current needs, there’s a few things that I don’t like. I typically wear an 11.5 medium but, Nortive didn’t offer half sizes so the only option was to upsize to the 12. They do list a “Wide” option but no medium. The speed lacing eyes are too narrow to accommodate 550 paracord which is my choice for replacement laces. The eyes are also thin and are prone to falling. I’ve experienced this on a few pairs of boots while lacing them up. These boots also lack adequate ventilation and are hot to wear. I’m a retired paramedic and have been wearing duty boots for 30 years and never had a problem with sweaty feet until wearing these boots. The Nortiv’s have ventilation holes but offer no air exchange. I will try wool boot socks to see if they make a difference. My synopsis is they’re well made, comfortable for all day wear although they have poor ventilation, they’re easy to put on and remove using the zippers and, offer good ankle support. For the price, they’re a good value. Only time will tell if they’re durable.

Good Quality, comfy thick heel, but sizing seems off.
Giving five stars due to the quality and feel. Lightweight, sturdy, comfortable. Have only worn for about a week though so can't speak to longevity of the shoe. Sizing: Not removing any stars for this, but the sizing seemed weird to me. I am a woman who normally wears women's size 8.5 or 9. I first ordered the men's size 7, (which normally corresponds to a women's 8.5) and they were HUGE. Like a women's size 10, way too big all around. I exchanged for a men's size 6.5 (which normally corresponds to a women's 8), but this time they were true to size! Unfortunately for me, that means they fit small on my foot as men's 6.5/women's 8 is not my usual size. I'm keeping them anyways as they are close enough, but I do feel it on my big toe nail the fact that I don't have much toe room in front like I would normally wear. Zipper + Laces: Also adding a photo of an alternate tying method that has been working for me. (Note that I am not military and just wear these casually, so not sure if military would allow tying laces like this or not.) Leave the top bow tied all the time, use the zipper to loosen shaft, then have a second tie across the ankle that you tie/untie every time. I do this as the zipper does not go far down enough to use the zipper alone unless your laces are super loose, but pulling the laces on this shoe never seemed to get it tight enough across my ankle until I added the second ankle bow.

Comfort Boots, NOT Work Boots
Combat boot w/thick walking sneaker sole which is super lightweight and surprisingly comfortable. Also, thin upper so it's not hot like the Thorogoods I'm replacing. On the first day it was raining and water was running through the drive. Didn't get my feet wet. So far, very satisfied. I like the tread. Not aggressive and doesn't collect mud. It's grippy enough that I wasn't sliding around on the rubber floor mats in my car or truck. Not sure if it is the sole or the insole that makes these so comfortable, but it is a nice combination. Now I want to try out their non-sneaker boot with a steel toe. 12W fits exactly like a 12W should fit. At this price, I might pick up a second pair because even if they only last a year, it's still cheaper to replace these than the Thorogoods that didn't. These are not meant as work boots, so don't buy them thinking they're going to last on a construction site or doing wet work. These are just daily wear boots for people who like to wear boots. Probably last the average person a couple of years.

These boots are way better than advertised and exceeded the specs.
When I first purchased the boots I’m retiring now, I really wasn’t convinced about comfort and durability for my job’s purposes. That is walking 4-5 km a day in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain. Ice, snow, freezing rain, tropical storm like rain and wind, mud and -40 Celsius cold all the way up to 40 degrees Celsius heat and 80+ percent humidity. Without proper care beyond wiping them down to keep them looking clean for aesthetics and so my employer doesn’t throw a sh.t fit at me for breach of “uniform “ regulations. These first Nortive8 boots lasted almost two years for 75$ so my point is I’ve had boots I paid 300$ where the mid sole was destroyed in 12 months and the boot still looked ok but with nortive8 both mid sole and boot are finished at the same time. I got my moneys worth and I feel vindicated in that I’m not throwing out 300$ of a good brand boots only because the mid sole failed before the boots themselves. So do yourself a favor and get the nortive8 brand, invest in quality insoles and protect the “leather” body of the boot and just forget about them until they fail. Size chart is on par. So a size 13 wide, is just that. The side zipper never failed and because I wasn’t taking care of them, the mid sole started separating but a bit of RC tire glue and overnight drying did the trick. These boots are a fantastic product and a good option for security guards, law enforcement or just normal wear in manufacturing jobs, just choose a boot that has safety toe caps. They are surprisingly light weight and nimble in scenarios where speed is required. I give them a high 5 stars rating and one other thing, what ever material they use inside the boot, my feet never stank after a 16 hour shift even after I was soaked from rain after a exterior foot patrol for one hour. At that price point, you seriously cannot go wrong with nortive8 tactical boots. I have injuries from falling hard on ice, my skeleton is out of alignment and one hip that was pushed upwards from a fall and with proper insoles, these boots got me through a lot of nasty conditions. Hey people over at nortive8 could you send me a prototype tactical pair of boots so I can put them through their trials. Thanks for manufacturing a true product
