What a fun way to learn!
I'm absolutely loving the illustrations in this book—they're so colorful and engaging! And what's even better is that there are so many valuable lessons woven throughout the story, which we just adore. It sparked a ton of questions from the kiddos, in the best possible way, and led to some really interesting conversations with them. It's amazing to see how expressive and curious they can be. This book is definitely a winner in our house!

Wonderful A to Z guide for regulation tips for kids!
Regulating emotions is important for everyone, but especially with neurodivergent kids. My husband and I are looking to adopt a child and kids who have had trauma especially need help with regulation. I think this will be a fantastic book for our situation as well as many other people who have kids that would need extra help with this. It is written in a fun way For kids and the illustrations go well with it. I would definitely recommend this book for other parents to share with their kids.

Excellent, kind, sweet book with beautiful illustrations
I am so impressed by this sweet little book to help children when they are feeling out of control. I think all elementary schools should have it in their bookshelf! Not only for those with autism, ADHD, etc. Some kids are just having a bad day and all this advice would be great for them too. The best part is that it is told in a rhyme for children to enjoy and not feel preached at. Bravo!

A Must Have for Anyone Who Wants to Help Children Regulate
This book was delightful and so helpful! As a practitioner who helps adults with regulation and resilience, the topic of my clients helping their children comes up often. I am delighted to have found this resource not only to direct my clients to, but also to engage with my own children. Excellent writing with really helpful insights for the adult to lead the child. The illustrations are lovely too! If you’re looking for a practical, insightful and fun tool to help your child regulate I would highly recommend this book.

It's hard not to like.
The story is told in rhyme trying to help children deal with their emotions. From talking with their parents or teachers and whomever. A poignant tale for children who might struggle with outbursts or whatever. It's not just the story you'll love as the artwork is top-notch. It's also not a cash grab as there are plenty of pages to admire and read. There's also lots of colors to make you feel happy. Not to mention, the children are varied to help everyone fit in.What a wonderful job, Nisi Cohen. Readers help support this author.

In a near perfect world it is a great idea
I think Regulate with Kate strives to an idealistic goal but is it realistic? I think it depends on the level of a child’s development and knowledge and the amount of time the parents have to cater to the book’s aspirations. I think in a near perfect world it is a great idea, but I’m not sure how many kids are going to understand the things presented here even with a parent relating them. I’m sure some will as what is presented is done well and understandable from an adult’s perspective. I think it would certainly be targeted to the older age group presented. The illustrations are nicely done and I do like the emphasized words in the text.

Great illustrations and good advice
I want to first say that the illustrations in this book are truly exceptional. Also, the advice given is for the most part great for a parent to guide their child through should they be experiencing difficulties with self-regulation.I think that it is important however to not introduce some of these therapies to well adapted children (safe-space, acceptance of erratic emotional responses as normal). It is not useful to suggest that it is normal and acceptable to have angry brooding ruminations that merely need controlled (unless it is normal for that child). The recently popularized therapy of the “safe space” can be useful when things are out of hand and need dealt with practically in the moment. However, reverting to a “safe space” is not ideal as a long-term practice. Ultimately, it is not a solution and furthermore hampers efforts of developing a self-reliant integrity. Ideally, all of us must seek to develop our “safe space” within ourselves, as no external support system is either always available or reliable. That said, in extreme cases, this therapy may be necessary throughout life, but real efforts must be made to transition to an internal safe space. The author, of course, just presents the current state of vogue in her field and does that very well really. Also, most of these strategies are in fact great for everyone (good diet, exercise, time outdoors, practising gratitude, helping out, giving and kindness, thinking of joyous things), but some are certainly not (removing negative connotations to negative emotional responses, and reliance on a “safe space”).The book follows a group of four friends, but they are not shown socializing at all. They are introduced solo one at a time to demonstrate the various therapies. There is no main character really, but two boys and two girls. Because of this, it would have been nice to have made the book gender neutral with a title like “Regulate with the -fill in the blank- Crew”, or something like that.Overall, a great book for children struggling with self-regulation. I doubt you would find better.

A creative and valuable tool for kids
My kids and I really enjoyed this book. I got the book to help my boys regulate their emotions better. We need more books like this that are fun and engaging and educational. We learned a few new things too, we loved the beautiful illustrations too. The rhyming in the story and creative use of A - Z is memorable. We aren’t big on digital but I’ll definitely hold onto it in my digital library to read it to my kids. We wanted to buy a paper copy but it’s a bit out of budget at the moment. Highly recommend this book!
