This was when Coronation Street was good
To all Coronation Street fans, don't have a dig because I am probably a fair bit older than you. Anyway, this is a DVD of the early Coronation Street when there was a good mix of elderly, middle aged and young characters and no PC characters. We don't all like 'issues' discussed in our favourite programme.I liked Elsie Tanner because she was my age (now) but she did not give up on life and still chased the fellas. I gave up about 3 years ago so it is great for me to see an older (alluring) woman. As for Ena Sharples - I am looking forward to been like her when I draw my pension and I would love to be like her now as there are a few neighbours I would like a slinging match with. Always wondered what milk stout tasted like.Enough tittle tattle, this is a great DVD. Its not for everyone, but I love it. Its drama, heartbreak, laughter and had brilliant actors! My thanks to the seller, as it arrived quickly and was very well packaged. Well done!

Great box set
Having only quite recently become a regular Coronation Street viewer, it's been great familiarising myself through the 80 episodes in this box set with the characters and storylines that made the show the institution it is today.I had already started collecting and reading quite a number of books on the Street and its origins, and these dvds are a terrific way of bringing to life what I'd been reading about. The dvds come in a nice, compact box, and I was pleasantly surprised the box includes a booklet outlining the contents of each episode in the collection. This collection contains all 7 episodes from 1960, and 73 more that cover the rest of the decade. As I'm not a native speaker of English, I would have liked English subtitles... although I must admit I find the dialogue in Weatherfield easier to understand than that in Walford.

Great!
We have nearly finished watching this set and have thoroughly enjoyed it. We started watching Coronation Street on television when it first began as teenagers so it's been lovely to be able to see so many early black and white episodes again. The only thing I would say about them is that the episodes don't run consecutively and there are gaps of anything from a couple of weeks to several months between them which does mean that quite a lot of the time you don't get to see what happened next! This can be a bit frustrating but as it's so enjoyable it doesn't matter that much. I believe it does say on the box that it's selected episodes now I come to think about it. For Corrie fans well worth buying and I'll probably be buying the 70's before long.

OH, the Nostalgia ! - Excellent !!!
Right then - where do we start? Excellently, originally devised, I mustsay I remember, casting and all, to have made an impact on me as a child, and, since the broadcasting of the Tony Warren story and as to how hewrote and strived, if you like, to achieve such 'Pat Phoenix' and'Violet Carson' 'Grandure' ....All acted live before the camera, as nanny-nancies are not particularlycapable of today, (although Corry still on occassion), 't was an excellentlyportrayed Drama in front of a live audience, with the occassional cough,of a typical northern community and I cannot fault any part of that era.Summat of a shame it aint still t' same.At 46 and Old School, and all things seem to be going along with 'americanisms',ie: 'bastardised 'English'', I Highly recommend this 1960's full decadeselection to relax and dismiss all crap to !!

Back to the 60s
I always wanted to watch some of the early episodes of this series and I was not disappointed with the selection here.

Have enjoyed this, was never a fan of the show ...
Have enjoyed this, was never a fan of the show before, just wasn't the kind of thing I would watch! But I did some research on it and I really liked the sound of it, plus I thought best to start from the beginning as I've seen black and white stuff before and I need to get as much scope on the iconic series as possible! But all in all have really enjoyed it, Seen everything from 1960-64 atm and just about to revisit it with joy, so was definitely worth it.
